Why are there current job postings with this company if there are layoffs coming? I had a phone interview a couple weeks ago and have still been in contact with a recruiter about final decisions..

so who got cut at Spencer Road, the admin staff or higher ups?
I started with Weatherford 5 months ago at the Scott location. They keep telling us that we have tons of work and they are still needing more machinist. They have us working weekends. The only thing i see is that the material companies arent supplying us like before. Guess they are worried they wont get paid!! I thinking ill stick around for a little while longer. But if i wouldve known about all of this i wouldve never took the job. They sure didnt say a word about this while i was getting hired. But thats on me to do the research before.
It took 6 months to get my 401k when i moved on from wft. But that was when merrill lynch was running it. Minus 25% tax off the top. Good times
Well, I suppose it makes sense that the profitable parts would still need to maintain staffing.
As far as why weatherford, I’ve got a weird niche skill set that it’s hard to find jobs for. I got healthcare through the VA and my own retirement plans, so if they tank I’ll survive
Weatherford has been badly managed from the start. Not surprising that they would be trying to hire people at the same time they are laying folks off. The real question is why would anyone consider taking a job there. They have been in a death spiral for years and now are entering Chapter 11. Unless you have no other options avoid this place.
We are recruiting heavily in my part of the world. 14 plus vacancies, mostly replacements mind you. The company is recruiting.
I guess I am just more naive than I thought. I just don’t understand why they would pay recruiters to do this stuff if there is no actual position that needs to be filled.
Weatherford just laid off people at R&D Spencer Road today. Hope that answers your question....
