Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

This is perfect!!!

I have worked at hp,hpe and now dxc for 6 + years. Recently one of the accounts i worked with actually put my name in their newly signed contract. They did it because they do not want a revolving door on their support staff. It beleive it is a blessing for me, and provids me some cover for contract duration. Who knows they might hire me away! I would go running. I have to remark my management seemed angry...why just because the customer got one over on them? Because they cannot wrf a named onshore resource that governance signed off on? It is a crazy world.

All of us should start doing this! Or at least attempting to do it. This is perfect!

What happened on our account is that the named resources were outsourced to an India firm. Same people, but booted out the door and are now contractors. Some left, some moved to the contractor.

When the customers are promised a cost reduction because DXC will have a lower cost structure by offshoring, that's all they are interested in. They are just as morally bankrupt as DXC is, often more so.

offshore talent, that is an oxymoron. Offshore if you mean India and Malaysia can't debug their way out of a wet paper bag. If it's not written down in step by step process they are mostly at a loss. There are some good tech's from "offshore" but most are pretty darn bad.

I spent time with two high profile clients examining their third party risks and mostly it’s green on everything. But I noticed a string of reds with a supplier and asked ‘what’s going on there?’ And the reply was ‘that’s ‘DXC’. Omg my old company!

It boiled down to DXC not investing and using old kit. My concern was the impact it was having on them but they were locked in for another yr and planned to consider de-selection and this was not just some sme. So if DXC treat the big guns like this then it must be in some deep doo soo financially!

False, I know of an entire team that has their final date coming up and is being replaced by offshore talent, and the client has no idea yet. The assumption is that they'll cancel their contract and do everything in house when they find out, which is where I was told to try and land.

If they truly wanted you , there’d hire you directly . Your employment is managed via DXC and only DXC . Your name in a contract does not secure your employment .

I call BS @Zio9t0w Stop fear mongering. They are not moving contractually required named roles and or US required roles to India. They could have just said that to those folks in specified cases. Contract leaders have to constantly provide the proof but these contracts cannot move off shore unless they found a way for the client to agree to it buy significantly reducing the cost to them therefore reducing revenue.

Was actually told by a boss to make sure I impress the customer and hope they hire me after they cancel our contract and I'm let go

On the plus side if you're WFR and new resources (offshore) turn out very bad and DXC contract is pulled by your customers or about to - as it seems you got good reputation with them they likely to use you as direct employee to them or as a contractor

Yeah, not to burst your bubble, but they are willing to take the client hit when they RIF you anyway. They just make a few promises about how the new (offshore, junior person) will be better for them, and they give a little something in return for the customer not pursuing the issue.

I was leading a top 8 account, named in the contract as a critical resource, liked by the client..... and still got whacked.

I don't think you're protected at all, I work on a contract this specifically says us resources need to work it and everyone just got to let go and all the jobs moved to India. This is part of the reason why they're losing contracts
