Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Are vendors giving up on Sears Craftsman and Kenmore?

Looks like for a lot of product lines vendors would rather sell under their own brands than under the Kenmore name. Small appliance makers are obviously still avoiding Sears like the plague. Sears seems to be getting out of the business of tractors, push mowers, water heaters, dehumidifiers, and water softeners under the Kenmore/Craftsman names. You can't order c-ap from PartsDirect anymore, and people can't do repairs. Meanwhile, why doesn't Sears bring in Mattress brands that anyone under 30 might actually buy, like Purple, Casper, Leesa, Nectar, or a budget private label like Walmart's Allswell? Remember when people actually looked forward to Sears fashion?

Sears has to stand for something. It's not lowest price. It's not premium quality. It's not contemporary fashion. It's not avante garde fashion. It's definitely not value. It's not slight premium budget like Target. It's not like higher quality value like Costco. It's not where you go to build and furnish your home or do construction. The average Sears shopper is what, 60? It's overpriced out-of-date c-ap your grandpa buys with SYWR freebux galore, horrible customer service, stupid rewards programs shoved in your face, poor store upkeep, horrible and irrelevant inventory, and one checkout line per floor if you're lucky.

Nice in theory, but there are appliance makers and factories that shutdown forever precisely because Eddie refused to pay them during the bankruptcy.

SBD doesn't trust Transform to make good on its payments, just like every other vendor with half a brain, and never a man of his word Eddie won't make advance payments on goods.

Sears lost some Craftsman manufacturers after they sold the Craftsman brand to Stanley Black & Decker. I don't know why SBD is not supplying Sears with their new Craftsman-branded tools, but the selection in the Sears tool department looks pitiful compared to before they sold off the brand.

Lowe's is selling Kenmore vaccums and BBQs now too, manufacturers don't care about the Kenmore sticker anymore Frigidaire would rather sell us their stuff without the kenmore name on it

OP, I agree with everything you say except this "Remember when people actually looked forward to Sears fashion?"

I'm old, I worked for Sears in the Good Old Days, and never ever do I remember Sears as a fashion destination. The closest thing was when we lived in rural areas when I was a kid and we got the catalog. THAT was an event

Nothing additional, you must surely realize the stores are horrifically inconsistent. There are photos all over the internet showing it. Just go look at the Kmart videos on YouTube. Stores with good sales get merchandise, those that don’t don’t get as much, simple as that. I dunno about your store but we even have back stocked stuff like zero turn mowers.

All that should indicate is just how quickly your store gets downsized into a home and life.

As far as the parts direct there’s nothing really different between a Craftsman Tractor or a huqsvarna/MTD one. If they don’t supply parts then parts direct doesn’t have them. Since they are fundamentally identical just do a search on some power equipment parts site. It’s planned obsolescence. Back in the day when Sears was big and had power they used to make the manufacturers guarantee parts availability for a period of time but it’s no longer the case.

Our store has tons of Kenmore small appliances though I know some stores still haven’t been replenished. As far as the other categories other than water softeners I’m not sure what you’re talking about.

Parts direct is basically if manufacturers still provide parts for things, it isn’t just a Sears issue. All those Kenmore products are just relabels.

Mattresses are mattresses. 99% of people just buy what is cheap and comfortable at the right mix,

Seems that the Craftsman Lawn and Garden line will no longer be at SHOS. But walk into any Ace or Lowe’s and the are full of product with the name Craftsman on it.

This company doesn’t care about owners or that they are bleeding cash to stay open. SHOS wants to take the stores from owners AND do what? The Sears name has been so badly damaged there is no coming back.

Why does Eddie want anything to do with SHOS? What’s the end game for SHOS owners?
