Boilermakers to be Phased Out

With only around 600 Boilermakers across all class 1 railroads the decision is in the works to disband them and divide their work amongst the other crafts in locations they are utilized still. The details on the matter are still being hammered out. STAY TUNED could be shop altering permanent furloughs at locations with Boilermakers on all class 1 railroads.

Numbers the more members in One Union the more recognition They will receive from the company it's only been the company's design to I have so many crafts within its organization the more there are the easier it is to divide them come negotiation time for contracts. being that the Carmen craft is the largest mechanical craft for Norfolk Southern and the similarities between the work the Carmen and the Boilermakers do would only makes sense for the Carmen crafts to absorb them. Which would provide better negotiation for contracts and bargaining abilities your local unions.
