Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Mattel doesn't reward success and hard work

Mattel does a terrible job fostering young employees and does not provide opportunities for career advancements. It does not reward success and hard work. It does not value it's employees. This is why you see so many young and talented employees leaving, not because "young people in general don't stay long in place of employment".

Exactly what @ZcDoqTP-3cay said.

There is no future for this company. Time to move on.

Dear Original Poster:

How can the company foster young employees and advancement WHEN IT IT LOSING MONEY? Please realize these things are interconnected and that Mattel has yet to bottom out. RD and Ynot have recklessly ransomed the company in a last ditch effort to ARTIFICIALLY raise up Barbie sales. This will not work and the company MUST realize that all it’s other brands are more vital with more promise than an old and irrelevant play pattern like fashion dolls.

Well said. And best of all " it sounds like another millennial is butthurt ". That's classic and spot on. Show up at 9:30 - 10:00, two hour lunch and out by 4:15. Oh and don't forget sneaking off to the fitness center and 3 to 4 hours of the iPhone that's surgically attached to your hand. Damn that's a strong work day. Definitely worthy of a reward for your hard work. VP in no time for sure.

And just think, this is our Nations Future. We're screwed. Onward.

The fact is, it's a free market. If younger employees feel like Mattel doesn't offer them an environment in which they can realize their career ambitions, they are free to go elsewhere. If they're happy at Mattel they can stay. Pretty straight forward. If you don't like your situation, change it. If you do, congrats on having a job you enjoy. Don't complain about slow career growth at Mattel but also not look for new job opportunities.

Heavens to Betsy, it sounds like another millennial is butthurt because he lost his participation trophy. We'll be happy to mail you another one, plus a Starbucks gift card just for showing up most days!

Praying to hang on for 5 or 10 years? How dismal.

All the young and talented employees leave, and the older employees (20+ yrs) are either praying to hold on for 5 or 10 years or ready for their severance package. Guess who mattel is left with at that point?
