Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Vacation and Purchased Vacation

If you purchased vacation and did not use it before being let go, you will lose it.

If you are let go in June and you took more vacation than half of what you get for the year, you are going to have to pay for that vacation. So watch your vacation time. You may end up paying for it out of your last check. Look up "vacation pay on termination". Also applies for retirement.

1aty Did you read the thread? Not worried about vacation. I am trying to warn Ford employees.

Read the examples.

There are separated employees that will find that thier last pay will be low because they had to pay for vacation taken that they were not entitled to yet.

People are being eliminated & somebody(s) is worried about vacation, some of you will be on permanent vacation, so stop all of the negativity for those focused on their longevity.

Another example:

You have 20 vacation days per year.

Up to now, you took 4 vacation days.

If you look at the policy and the chart, as of the end of May, your vacation entitlement would be 10.

You took 4 of those 10 days you are entitled to. If you do not take any, and are terminated in June, the company would PAY YOU for 6 days !!!! You get paid for the entitled vacation days you have. As another poster indicated, in this example an employee is entitled to about 2 days vacation per month working.

Snooze & Lose

I feel so sorry for you.

Honestly, look for the policy.

If you took all of your vacation and are terminated in June, you will have to pay back half, and it will be taken off your last pay.

Not crying about vacation. I am warning people that if you take all of your vacation (not purchased vacation) and then are

terminated, you will have to pay for the vacation that you were not entitled to and it comes off your last pay !!!!!

Example: If you have vacation for 20 days. and you used your 20 days, then are terminated in June, you have to pay back FORD for 10 days. It will be taken off your past pay !!!

Remember vacation is earned from Jan-Oct so if you are getting 20 days vacation, you earn two days per month Jan thru Oct
