I was laid off at the end of 2018 after 12 years at TR--and at 61 years old, I thought I'd never find another job. Well, it took five months, but I have a new job, so it IS possible. Yes, I did have to compromise on pay (I'm only making a little more than half of what I made at TR), but you know what? I'm happier than I've been in ages. I'm at a very small company, there's no politics or stress, and my co-workers are wonderful. Best of all, just a couple weeks in I already have my confidence back. I'm doing the job that was basically taken away from me at TR because of a departmental re-org that was done about a year before the company-wide re-org. Sure, my husband and I will have to watch our pennies a little more carefully, but it's worth it to enjoy going into work every morning--and to be able to do what I'm good at again.
