Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Painful time to be at Ford

Been working for the company for almost decade. This by far the most painful period with amateur process to lay people off. The process varied and it was confirmed that on some departments people will escort it out despite of the confirmation that this will not be the case.

I know some good managers who were shown the door and give them until of the week. Shamefully these were some of the best people I worked with. The criteria is differently rigged. I personally hoped to be on the list but I was not. Surviving the first round doesn't make me feel better about the company. The measure used are terrible. I saw friends walking out of the door after decades of service not because it is time for them to leave or that they are not able to offer more but because the company decided to do so. Not aware of any LLs demoted yet (maybe in the next couple of weeks). If you demoted please take a moment and realize you technically were on the list, the demotion is their way to force u out without paying u (force someone to quit). It is indeed humiliating. Nobody should be demoted without a cause.

I wish best of luck for those who still have to stay through thing until June (and per Jim email they were n't really be done when this is over). The company has indeed destroyed its culture with this lousy process. Surviving this would make people just look to do "the job for the pay check". If you get chance to move to another job in another company take it. This layoff have proven nothing but that loyalty doesn't pay off.

Best of luck all

It is painful, and morale is really bad - worse than it was in 2008 after the way forward actions. A surviving LL6 as much as admitted it is;.

At least in 2008 we had something to rally around; I honestly don’t know how management expects to turn morale around this time. This could be what beaks Ford for good...

It was a painful day today. Another one tomorrow. Watching all the separated employees leave. Do not know how much more in June.

@ZgLuo6W-1xic, I went through this @25 years ago and the company that I worked for hired an outfit called Right Associates. They provided a desk, phone, resume printing and critique and some business cards. I thought that the services provided were pretty amateurish and I only went to their offices once.

I feel the same way you do. I feel like calling it "Survivors Remorse". After the dust is settling - there is clearly still no plan. Part of Smart Redesign is to "flatten" the organization and work smarter. In some cases, yes, jobs/positions were eliminated, but in others - they were notified of separation, just to hear shortly after, someone was offered the same position as their back-fill.

Just sad. Still no sense of direction. People running around with their hair on fire is what I picture at RCB and TCO....

Anyone notice the people who don't complain & overcome any obstacle who are part of the solution, not part of the problem?

I feel sorry for those who were demoted and not let go. Sad because it is was sh-t move by Ford but because the people who were demoted could have said f-- you and left. I cant imagine working in a position you earned by your hard work and then have to stick around while everyone knew you as someone else. This is Fords way of breaking you. Do yourselves a favor and look in the mirror. Are you the same person that earned the job title you were able to obtain before you were demoted? If you are leave ASAP. Ford is already planning your replacement.

Any of you ever work at Dearborn Assembly at the Rouge? Just trying to get ahold of some former Mustang softball teammates from Rotunda Field.
