I’ve heard there are about 20 DLs gone company wide. Does anyone know whether or not this is by choice?? My RD is retiring after 40 years with the company also. Sad to see him leave. He is pretty awesome.

26 DL openings now out of 600+ positions, 5 opened this week. Most are finding other jobs, it will get worse. The trouble is fast tracking EL's who now must do it on their own when promoted vs having the DM/RxSup to help them learn the market and how to manage multi-site operations.
The DL's don't visit stores and accomplish anything. Overwhelmed! RD visit stores and have no solutions to the Store issues.
Who wants a thankless job with a company that is rightsizing everything due to competitive pressures. Executives are doing everything to keep their jobs and the stock has fallen from $116 to $53 per share. The executives still collecting the big salaries and compensation while the store staffs get chopped. Eliminate Area VP's and Senior VP's. Keep RD and give them 200 stores.

Who is your RD that's retiring?
Pharmacy Managers who became DLs have realized they can't handle it and are going back to the bench or taking other positions, promotions, retirements, and moving to other regions. It's a mix. I'm close to 3 regions. The turn has been over 10 in the last 6 months between the 3 regions that I have heard about.
So no doom and gloom, it's expected changes that happen in large companies. Especially with the Aetna purchase there are a lot of corporate jobs for pharmacist right now.
20 DLs gone?? Where would you get that king of data?
I rather believe there are 20 openings if you search, but that is typical at any time due to promotions or turn etc
To answer your question.. by choice , by being let go and by promotion. I am aware of all 3
