Thread regarding Riverbed Technology Inc. layoffs

Time to hit the road

We know whatever turns out to be our future - cuts will be brutal. While it's tempting to stay and wait for a possible severance, I think leaving now is a safer option - mainly because when there are too many employees with similar skills and experience on the job market at the same time, it gets much harder to find a good job.

Not sure about other people, but I've already started searching.

I left a week before SKO. My stock is/was worthless. Riverbed will be chopped up and sold in pieces. It's much harder to get a job when there's a large layoff (coming in Q3... maybe Q4 latest). Get out now while you can, and be aware that those severance packages will NOT be as good as the Jerry days/recent packages were.

Many good folks are jumping ship..... sadly the upper-level management are not...

This company desperately needs its own version of ‘ Brexit’ if you know what I mean

I was a longtime employee for over a decade (!!!!) and I recently left, for the very same reason. I love who I work with but upper management needs to go as they are being very unprofessional. It is a hot job market. I recently just got hired somewhere making double what Riverbed paid. Everyone in my team there wants to quit, management is terrible - promoting people who don't know what they're doing and delegating work out instead of doing what they're supposed to. I could not suffer any longer at the riverbed sweat shop

I have not seen any evidence that Q2 is "looking good."

Q2 looking good so far. Another month to go for catch up. Sales working hard. We will survive.

You are not the only one looking. The last layoff and the poor Q1 have a lot of people spooked. I know many who are interviewing outside. It is a hot job market right now and people are either choosing to leave on their own or they are at least putting out feelers to shorten the search if another round of layoffs come. Sad really. There are a lot of things I like about Riverbed, but its hard thinking long term here when there are constant course corrections.
