I can tell you exactly how it happens....you will get an invite for one-on-one with your manager (if you are WFH), but an HR rep will be included. Your manager will read from a SCRIPT and tell you that you are losing your job, then turn the call over the HR who will attempt to explain your severance pkg while you are completely stunned and sobbing. It s---ed!

The job market is hot right now....for people with skills. Leave Anthem with your head held high.
It’s inevitable that Anthem will continue to lay off the workforce. They promised Wall Street a $10B profit for 2019. We are losing clients in the commercial market, big companies that contributed millions in profit are leaving due to false promises and unskilled Account teams. Those losses in revenue must be offset by layoffs.
I know how you feel. I was Rif’d 10 years ago when mark boxer was CIO, but my key to survival was accepting the first internal job I was offered, and knowing you can do anything for 1 year then post out for something better.... that is if you want to stay at anthem. Having a plan helps. I too cried that first rif, I was blindsided since I wasn’t even IT.
Stunned and sobbing? Please, Anthem is a miserable place to work. I worked there and am working somewhere else and happy to go to work now! Refresh your resume, get an IT cert/training and be positive. I woud sob only if I found out a family member was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The job market is good. You can get training cheap on Udemy, Udacity, Coursera, Lynda, etc. Being positive is the first step. Any of you laid off, keep your wits and known these con artists screw good people like you regularly.
