Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

What retailers are still barely open like B&N? And how do they compare to us?

The managers in our store are always in panic about sales. The atmosphere is toxic and miserable and made even worse when there's a visit.

Does anyone know how and why the other retailers are still hanging on?

How low do sales have to go before the close the stores?

BN (and any other business) will stay open as long as they have the cash on hand to operate. When they run out of cash, and can no longer find somebody to load them cash, then they close.

The problem is that, apart from BN's top bigshots, and the guys who--astonishingly--continue to loan them money, nobody really knows when this is going to happen.

The smart thing to do is to get out there and look for another job; not only may you land in a place that's, you know, actually stable, but you can get out of the toxic workplace wasteland that BN stores are becoming.
