Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Got a SRD (Smart ReDesign) meeting with my manager later in the day. Anyone else?

I got a meeting notice in my inbox late last night about a meeting with my manager (not supervisor) today around noon. I see he is having lot of 15 minute discussions with lot of people. Did anybody go through this yet? I am preparing for the worst and already applying. I am in PD engineering. I can be classified as electrical. 4.5 years at Ford. Agency

Good news for you. However, agency job changes or layoffs should always be communicated by your Agency, not a Ford employee. That’s a co-employment requirement.

How did you guys know it's a reassignment and not a layoff?

It seems that a couple of posters knew this before @twg reported what actually happened?

Great to hear. I was hoping we were not setting you up for disappointment, but I did want it to make it known that the 15 minute 1 on 1 meeting does not necessarily mean the kiss of death, at least based on the way it seems like they're doing things.

If meeting is 1 on 1, prepare for the worst. If you haven’t done so already, have all your personnel stuff out or at least packed up. Make sure you take all your professional contact info with you. If it does happen, you have one less thing to worry about. Stay focused on your next steps (unemployment benefits, job searching, reaching out to your network). Take some comfort in knowing that not all terminations are due to low PR and that you are not the only one going through this.

They’re going to likely let you know what your new assignment will be. Many of us in the department are dealing with the same thing... either a quick phone call from the new manager or a 15 minute meeting.

Agency seems to be safe, uncertainty for PS.

I'm also seeing those 15 minute meetings on my managers calendar. Is it alone with you or a group?

This may be bad news for you, but it also just may be a change or reassignment from your current position. I'm saying this from seeing it happen yesterday first hand. You're not completely SOL just yet. I hope for the best for you in this meeting. Good luck.
