Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Survivors Guilt or Did Something Fundamentally Change Today?

I was there in 08, and felt relieved after the all clear. Got the all clear today and felt nothing, dead serious, nothing. Anybody feel the same? I don't know if it was all the delays, the BS huddles, etc, but I did not feel relieved, or happy. Leadership seriously needs to read what a legitimation crisis is because they have created one over the last six months since SRD's inception. Maybe Jim can add that to the recommended reading list. Bill Ford Jr. needs to say something; I mean the family has been void (maybe getting ready to dump?). I still do not see the plan to win, nor have heard anything remotely close to that since the Hackster took over. He has as much credibility/accountability as the morning news weather forecast ( actually that is probably an insult to meteorologists)

@fck SMH also. The LL6 who remain in area are the pass the buck, point the finger, stab the back type. The LL6 who were invited to leave were the get it done, team builders. One of the remaining LL6 has managed to do nothing for years and get the credit for the released LL6 work while also tossing the blame for everything on the same LL6. Props for playing the Ford game well. He will be an LL5 soon, bank on it. Our LL5 behaved the same way and got promoted.

Totally feel the same as OP. I told coworkers yesterday after our "all-clear" that months of accumulated stress doesn't just melt away in an instant.

OP hits the nail on the head! I think this is far from over - our LL4 said we will be done by end of June, which says to me that a lot more will happen. Other groups have said the same, the end date is still in the future. This seems totally random and not for the good of the company. My boss does nothing. He doesn't know what his team does. He is still here. SMH. Another LL6 with excellent managerial skills got let go. ????

Op is correct, it is different this time. In 2008, it was mainly low performers - I know because as an IT team lead at the time, I was asked by my supervisor to rate the employees on the team and whom could we afford to lose.

This time around, be reading other posts, it seems entirely random....which to some extent it is, to avoid discrimination lawsuits (GM followed the same playbook 2 months ago).

The problem with that approach is that it enstills fear in everyone- which will only get you so far in getting people to change,. They will tired of living in fear and start to leave at first opportunity. This is what scares me...

I just feel weird. I have enjoyed my time here. My fifth year with the company this year. Seeing hard working people getting canned who actually made big strides for the company just stresses me out. One of the big hitting things when I got hired was that Ford is a company you work for as a career and I'm not sure that I see myself in that position with the people who left today after their service.
