Windering if these layoffs are targetting employees who still have a pension, and keeping those without.

I read somewhere that overconfidence increased likelihood of being cut. It may have been from a GM employee. There is some truth to this.
In my area those who were the most scared seemed to survive. A lot of my leadership team have been/are "fear monsters" to overcome their shortcomings.
