As rumors go, its circulating that 20 yrs + may be offered severance as restructuring is done. Could there be any truth to this?

It is very much the truth. A friend of mine that is a 20 year associate of WalMart was just offered $16,000 to leave WalMart. She is refusing. She has 4 weeks vacation every year they have to pay her, plus she makes much more than that in a year. No way is she taking that until her retirement. She has a lawyer involved in case they try anything shady and that way she hopes to get enough to be able to retire. It's not fair to work yourself to death for a company just to be offered pennies to the dollar of what you're worth.
My friend was a 20 year associate from the office, only received about $15,000 and in six months it was gone. So think twice about about if you’re getting good pay and she was making about $20 an hour. You get one weeks pay for years of service. Just remember all the benefits you have at Walmart your money will be gone in nothing flat. Now she has a find another job because she’s only 50 years old. That was a mistake she should’ve never left. She was offered better positions but did not take it because she was angry. I’m sure she will have to find another job, it will be a struggle to find something with all the benefits she had and get $20 an hour. Lost all of her vacation time etc.
I been with Walmart this year 8 yrs. Would love to get a buy out check. Not a good place to work anymore. Please buy me out.
A severance package a.k.a buyout would be nice. As a long term associate it would be nice to end my employment with those terms. Retail is no longer a 75% associate needed Monday-Friday job. I understand the company needs to change with technology but there should NOT be a change in compassion to people. Do your employees right. We are your best customer!
This happened back in 2006 also, but hourly "long timers" were just forced out by using the "coaching system" because they were trying to cut payroll. The longer you were there, the more you were paid, the more you were like;y going to be harrased to either quit or green sheet by coaching.
Only ones getting 'buy ours' are salaried managers. hourlies are a dime a millionand will NEVER get a severance package. Why would they? Where have you e v e r heard about unskilled, hourly laborers getting that kind of special treatment?
Buyouts aren't a thing. If you mean severance pay with a week per years worked, that's a thing.
It’s very much the truth!!! There are many!! 40% from Walmart’s Pharmacy Departments nationwide! Most are keeping silent until after all that was promised is given and true! I have a dear friend to whom this happened to and it’s very sad!!! This needs to be public knowledge!!!!! If you google Walmart Pharmacy lay-offs/cuts you will see lots of stories!!!!!!
I have heard this several times over the years. I doubt it is true.
