Depends on the Market

A couple different factors involved. Mainly your DL, and your current pay rate. The standard is 8% for promotions, but if your already high on the pay scale and your DL doesn’t want to go to bat for you, you’ll get more like 4%. If you’re lower on the scale you’ll get the 8%.

Agreed. Just don't become a SM. Truth be told 85% of us hate our jobs. 1 more week left of this nonsense for me. You can do better, get out while you can.

I was paid $18.xx/hr SMIT. I worked a lot of Sundays (time and a half), holidays, and most weeks I worked 50-55 hours. I made $52k my first year with all the overtime as an SMIT,

and continued to make about $52-$55k for a few years. I got my first store for $59k salary. I’m now at $70k... my increases were due to what I negotiated as I got transferred to higher volume stores. Although some weeks I work 55 hours, most of the time I work 45-48 hours. I also get $10k bonuses.

$48,500 is the lowest you can be paid due to Store Managers being exempt employees. Don't expect more due to company restrictions on pay for all employees.

Best advice is to not become a store manager. In the end your dollar per hour at 48.5k with an average of 50 hours per week will be $18 per hr. Work more because of callouts, meetings, and crazy expectations and your worth is $15.50 per hr at 60 hrs per week. In my area $15.50 is the cap for Shift Managers.
