Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Big layoff happening this week

Heard it today in Hoffman.. that's right Eddie is wanting to dramatically lower numbers in employment across the country. He's going to do it secretly from what was said. Getting rid of underperforming employees, high paid ones at that. So he doesn't have to report a massive layoffs to the court or public. The way they laid it all out was sickening. I've been drinking all day after hearing this. Finally I can't take it anymore, and am telling all. Good luck everyone! Leave now while you can.

The company is a complete train wreck.....you can't even get ahold of anyone for over an hour on almost every 800 line Sears has.... Their answer is hang tight and be positive while we work through this transformation, I don't really know the inner workings of the company just been on the sales floor awhile and stay because it's easy and fits my schedule and can still make okay money for what you're doing sometimes selling mattresses and appliances, but ya it's mess for sure I wouldn't trust them with my business seeing what I've seen the percentage of delayed or cancelled deliveries has got to be off the charts compared to competitive retailers. It's just a game at this point..like someone already said quit stressing about your job they won't fire you right now if you show up and put in an effort manipulate the metric system do what ya got to do they probably laid off everyone that gave a chit about checking that kind've stuff anyway and you'll just get a slap on the wrist if you get caught unless it's shady and just sit back and wait for unemployment and maybe a severance check come January or find another job. I'm enjoying the snow for now

I recently came back to Hoffman as a consultant and I can tell you... Transform has more work than people right now..they can't afford to lay any more associates off. It's going to take a lot of manpower to complete the 'transformation'.... will it be successful.... who knows?

If retirees are hired back, they will finally get an opportunity to see all of the Transformation and Integrated Digital blah blah that they have missed for the past xx years. It will be like going to DisneyWorld for the first time. Shock and Awe! Should bring a tear to their eyes as they think about how they missed the journey into Transformation!

So if how it is laid out is sickening...tell us how it is laid out. If you are going to tell all, then do it, because you have given absolutely no info here.

Pfff, keep dreaming. systems aren't working. Nothing is getting resolved and no one is getting fired over it except the little guy whose fat boss is screaming at him - chastising him - for not being productive without a system running.... the one to blame are those of us at the bottom. The higher ups are enjoying their fat pay checks while cracking the whip.

There aren’t going to be any “secret” layoffs under Transform. Unlike the end of SHLD and the layoffs without WARN notification going unpunished, Transform and ESL will be on the hook if they start trying to skirt the rules. IIRC WARN is required for 100 employees or more, so if they want to skirt it it will take years to get rid of everyone. I also seriously doubt a new IBO that further cuts store level staffing is coming, especially with the current (ineffective) advertising push and instructions to hire. They may finally get rid of the remaining FT positions, but that will probably wait until next January.

Will Kenny the Clown survive the latest round of layoffs? As useless as he is, probably so.

They have to do something I'd imagine they're just bleeding money now. When ever I check the sales flash at closing, Pacific time the nation total to last year same store sales is about spot on 50% every day I look, there's no way they're even closing to breaking even or returning to profitability

I worked for Sears for over 20 years before I go outsourced and then finally terminated. I was able to land a job six months after being terminated. While those six months of being unemployed were very stressful and we had to do some creative bookkeeping to stay afloat, looking back on it it was totally worth it. If you are one to get laid off look at it as the kick in the pants to move on. You’ll be glad you did. It’s amazing how much better I sleep at night not having worry every day about what’s going on with my job. Best wishes to all!

Why are you worried? You have every right to be. Disaster ship going down. No life rafts or vests. Sink with it, or swim to get away quickly. Typical stuff from this company. Start applying at safer companies ASAP. Hopefully your unemployment benefits can carry you through until your new paychecks kick in.

Here we go again. How many times have we heard the same thing. Hopefully it's not true this time. We barely have enough people to run the store now and people are leaving for better paying jobs daily. The manager had to ring tonight because there was only one cashier working and we were really busy. I'll believe it when I see it.
