Since call out pay got cancelled, I get a call every night. Not sure who is actually taking the callout.

Guess what Pal ? Page 25 article 10.3 paragraph 3 CWA contract its in BLACK AND WHITE let me repeat it so you can understand it .
"The Company reserves the right to REQUIRE employees to accept overtime/call-out opportunities when the need arises AS DETERMINED BY THE COMPANY in accordance WITH THIS AGREEMENT"
Read it three times and let the words sink in it tells us that the company can REQUIRE us to do call out, if THEY deem its necessary PERIOD. In the contract as it sits now...last contract only 1 paragraph and this was not in it .......PERIOD no Bull no nothing its in print
Ill add the OTHER new paragraph that was not in last contract but is now
"call out pay starts when the employee leaves and ends when the employee returns to their residence. An employee who leaves their residence but spends time working at home on the assignment will also be paid for time worked at home"
This is in our favor. So therefore we have changes that were approved and voted upon by the membership allowing this change in this area, this is what is happening across the country they let the contract ride for in this case 18 months before a new TA was placed and voted upon and everyone jumped at new contract
so nope im afraid your wrong buddy may not appear in YOUR contract YET but i am sure it will in the future this is in Florida in case anyone is wondering "
Well then your probably an ex Embarq/Sprint Employee then and yes it would be different from Quest/ Us West contracts.
Bent over by your negotiations if there was a vote on it.
Just relaying what is in the current contract now? I agree its completely unethical , and there should be some push back contact your union Reps and demand some action
Problem is when I'm not getting standby pay, I may not be in town, may have had a drink, etc. How can I be "available" and ready to work when I have a life. Company can DEEM it necessary, but do they think we are just sitting around waiting for their call? Standby was not a lot of $ but it was there to make sure that designated person was available and ready to work when needed.

They are getting around it by QUIETLY trying to do Local agreements with the Union employees. They are giving threatening ultimatums...Volunteer on-call or adding 24/7 shifts (1, 2nd and 3rd), which would end up costing them MORE than the call-out. In the Midwest, since the Merger, they have slowly been making many previous contractors full-time employees now. Its kind of comical...ALL the contractors on here slapping the UNION employees down and the first chance they get to be full-time they cant jump fast enough. NOW, I am hearing them complain about how its not right/fair with what's been going on. Its all general Human Nature...we all want what the other has UNTIL you have it! With the slow churn that's been happening right under our noses, its no surprise they feel they are in a good position to dictate with local agreements. Most of the dedicated, long standing Union workers have seen this cycle from WAAAAAAY back and are not surprised by anything this Management team is doing...Its all the NEW union contractors and legacy Union family members that thought they were moving to a more secure umbrella! Long standing Union employees KNOW they cannot get this by UNLESS they get them to sign into a local agreement. DO NOT MAKE IT EASY for them...NOW IS THE TIME to stand strong and make them deal with it through NATIONAL contract negotiations, NOT LOCALLY. Good Luck to all!!
"Check you Contracts they added a paragraph and a half in ours about call out. havent seen the claimed HR view on it , but contract basically in our area says they can call you whenever the company feels its needed, no mention of weekly call out pay just the portal time period start to finish 1.5 times the current rate
"The Company reserves the right to REQUIRE employees to accept overtime/callout opportunities when the need arises as DETERMINED BY THE COMPANY in accordance with this agreement"
pretty balck and white"
Company cannot add language to a contract without Union approval, no Union Rep or information concerning this has been given to anyone I know, so it's either BS and your all be taken by the abuse of the company to dictate Union contract agreements without authorization or this is a misinformation post.
They would have to issue an addendum just like they did with the STD changes a while back.

Pretty simple off button or simply phone is at work since it's company equipment and I am not getting paid to carry it so I leave it there to protect company assets and for security reasons.
Don't let them misrepresent On-Call. There are Federal labor laws governing your treatment. Go see the Google for 'Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)-on call' and read it, print it, distribute copy's. They can and will take advantage of the under informed.
Can't remember how long it's been since they've cancelled the call out pay but they've called me 3 times since...truth be told I wanted the overtime but declined it.
My time is my time....call all you like See if I answer.
i called out on 2 tickets, called through the list of about 10 techs, the two who answered said they had to go pick up their kids and will call back in later to see if anyone picked up the ticket. im not even sure why lsr puts in tickets through.
What I don’t understand is no official announcement was made. This is why unions are formed, when companies take advantage of its employees. Maybe it’s time the national side looks at forming one.
If you're required to respond to that call, then you should be getting standby pay per HR policy. If you're immediate supervisor is denying that pay but still requiring standby, then call the Compliance Line to report it.
No call out rotation. All voluntary. I guess someone is working them since they are apparently asking people to volunteer.
We national techs were told it is a job requirement. Don't take call out get written up disciplinary action. Don't take call out next time on the street. Third time fired.
Are you local or national? Cause national we are on an on call schedule and are required to go in.
