Severance pay

In the US is severance pay done through direct deposit or a hard check? How long did it take to receive?

It should take roughly one pay period for you to receive your funds the way you normally do (10-15 days). And, if you were on direct deposit, that's how you'll get paid. Any delay beyond a full 2-week pay period means that your manager, or his/her HR rep or approval chain dropped the ball somewhere.

Mine was 2 weeks, direct deposit. It didn't use the same direct deposit bank account order I had set up for normal pay checks (it all went into one account), so you may want to look at changing that if it matters to you.

I’m in Texas and my severance was direct deposited 10 days after my last day.

Mine (TX) was direct deposit about 2 weeks after my last day.

I know of one person who was sent the last check before was told she was RIFF'ed. Heck before the manager knew. Luck the Fedex ground check was a bit late, otherwise the person would have gotten the check before they were told

Also, it looks like I received the check 1 day after the check cut date and deposited it 1 day after receiving it.

Mine (TX) was hard check, dated 18 days after last work day. I think it came in FedEx envelope. A few states have different requirements. TX is supposedly within 30 days.
