I am sorry for your friend but here is the bitter truth. Some old Seagators need to leave. Due to lack of willingness to learn new technology , they can not be deployed to new technology/ project. They need months of training to advance their career. Most of them who are laid off can not do any productive work other than documenting and re-doing the same thing. Lack of self initiatives. They are still far away from realising that startup culture is the new trend in IT world.
Eg. One developer/contractor in Asia does development and two teams so called end users and program managers in Asia including their manager and director just having webex and watching him/her almost whole day without any regret. Super bosses in USA know it very well how those viewers are trying to fool them by filling long weekly reports/emails/excelsheets.
Now Guess, which team/s will be the next team/s to go? One such so called IT endusers team including director is already gone from Woodland. Years of their Karma paid off. Such teams should have been laid off in 2017 lay-off to save huge cost and that might have saved some real gems.
Just as predicted. New CIO and his buddies are clearing the deck so that they can bring in more of their buddies.
