1) Did you notice anything odd with your systems or access prior to being laid off ?
2) Did American Express contact you directly to cut off your credit card ?
3) Cell phones - were they immediately cut off ?
4) Company cars - did you need to return immediately
5) ANy other strange or out of place occurances ?
FYI...Receiving a new credit card or a bonus signifies absolutely NOTHING with the company known as DNB (Do Not Bother). They want to keep the illusion that everything it fine so they can get every ounce of production out of you until they let you go. But they are dumber than they think. When my "boss" started ignoring my emails and acting evasive on phone calls, it became obvious to me what was going on. When I got a two person "meeting request" to be held in a large conference room, scheduled the night before, I knew the deal. I came in very early, parked in the visitors lot, packed up all my stuff, took care of files I wanted on my laptop and waited for the "big news" to be meekly given to me. Of course the reason they gave me was complete BS and wouldn't hold up in court if I pursued it. However, I took the package gladly since I had been proactive and already had a new job lined up. I walked out of that room super calm and content that I was escaping that cancerous company. I ended up doubling my income for about 6 months. THANK YOU DNB !!
So I have a story from March rounds. I’m literally at a client site with my boss and another sales rep - I’m in a mtg with chief of staff at a large bank with 8 other folks. And mid way thru the mtg. My boss says - to me. We need to go. We interrupt a 10 person mtg to inform me of my package. Run!!!!!
How about being on a family vacation in Europe and your leader and HR rep call you to let you know you were terminated. Couldn't wait until the employee returned home. That's NOT employee focused. RUN!
Sorry to those that lost their jobs. To those that remain, why are you sitting around waiting for it to happen to you? It’s better to be in control of your own destiny and find another job now. If you are a talented, hardworking employee, you’ll be able to find work someplace else. At this point the only justification for staying is if you thought it through, already came to terms with being laid off, and just want to collect the severance package on your way out. But to stay because you think you are safe, or that things will get better, or that your work will be appreciated? Don’t fool yourself. Was your work appreciated so much that you got your full bonus or a raise this year? If you did, then you are safe. Everybody else needs to consider their options because the company is in the process of considering them for you, without you even being at the table.
I actually received a new credit cars the week before. 2 days prior, leader just made sure I was in office June 26. You'll get a meeting invite the night before scheduled in a conference room. Our 121 was usually in huddle rooms.
