Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

How did you get the job at Mattel and how was the first interview?

Any advice for someone trying to get in?

Obviously find out about the job. Some groups are fine despite what you read here. More importantly find out who you’ll be working with and reporting to.

OP, what type of position are you considering?

it’s not worth the grief considering the corporate instability. you’re going to try to get yourself established and be stressed about being laid off at the same time. Mattel was a great name to have on your CV. now? people will look at you and will question your thought process and decision making.

What a cliche. Those who are outside want to get in; those who are inside want to get out.

Go work at a smaller toy company first. If you can handle that. Then you can just relax and cruise at Mattel. Make sure to come in at manager level or you will never get any respect.

I would not recommend the place.

I've been in the toy industry for over 25 years and worked for many toy companies. Mattel is the worst place I have experienced. Do yourself a favor, look for other places unless you love the toxic and depressing environment...

I also had a recommendation from a friend.

But, why would you want to work for Mattel? As a former employee, call me biased - but read the previous threads. The business is failing, there are continuous layoffs, and the culture is toxic.
