Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

I hate this place!

Every account i work on there are at least 1 or 2 Project manager quit. At least 2-3 network / firewall poeple leave dxc. Its all the time, we are always doing this. One of my managers in the states was made redundant last year, a team member picked up his work, now they have left lol so an engineer is doing PM, SDM, PD and engineer roles.

I have been mostly on the bench for 3 years, cant even get VR. I absolutely do not car about this company anymore. I feel really bad for the clients, they understand, and have even offered me roles.

I was really stressed about being on the bench, then get thrown into roles i have no clue ho to perform time and time again. It really messed my mental health up for a while.

All is fine now, i wake up happy everyday, i do not prep for any meetings, i just do not care, im training myself up everyday for a new job. DXC are paying for me to d nothing, so i am now making the most of it.

I feel for you guys who are stuck here. But in the grand scheme of things, dont worry you can always get another job, even if its not IT until you get what you want. Dont do something you hate for money, id rather be poor and happy.

I detest working at DXC

it is the most miserable part of my life ever. The only salvage is the pay and reasonable work day to day. Everything else is just pure sewage - from appraisals to the ludicrous ethics tests.

Because I've rationalised the treatment of employees as "legal mental abuse by design", i feel I'm able to box it up enough to stop it affecting my mental health too much.

But other than, I'm so ashamed of being called a "DXC employee", I hide the fact to others, but more importantly, to myself

Whilst I work for a firm where there is focus on the numbers, they don't do it at the expense of ameneties. They provide team days out, charity sporting events, annual conferences in some posh place with evening meal and drink, summer barbequeues with hired bands, christmas parties in posh hotels and are always getting involved in some local community charity project like removing plastic from a beach or raising money for new community projects in different regions and there's always some local group or newsletter inviting people to sing, act, or join some works club or other.

You probably have to go back a bit but CSC and HP had some of this back in the day but all expenditure got cut over the years until it went to beyond silly levels at the expense of staff well-being, morale and productivity and beyond that into cutting services to clients and stressing everyone beyond health. Its bordering on breaking modern slavery laws now.

All staff I knew who stayed on a little longer have all left and got new positions, some have retired and some have turned to a new career entirely. But all agree it was the best move they made getting out - just to get away from that **** (their expletive not mine).

I don’t hate it. My days date back to Compaq/Digital and ever since the the acquisition by HP, the management style has been the worst example of capitalism. Nothing but a slash and burn mentality with a purely greed focus at the top rather than building a business. We’re instead trying to be the world’s largest VAR. That kind of business activity has its place but that is not a long term plan. We’re in the part of the economic cycle where none of us should be fretting about employment, benefits or compensation. I don’t know if this is a more general failure with business schools or that the worst management types just flocked in, but it is a terrible shame.

You need to get out of there. I know that phrase sounds like a cliche' on here. But for important reasons, technology and business processes are moving so quickly now, that if you stay there your skills will become out of date, as DXC won't invest in you properly - because they don't know themselves.

After leaving, I learned just how far behind I'd allowed myself to become with the cocoon of DXC and have since acquired a lot more experience - not hampered by stupid things like cost, travel and endless and stupid approval steps on every process step.

It is very refreshing on the outside and it feels like pulling oneself out of a muddy bog and realised how little you've seen of life being stuck inside that cess pit of toxic waste. Once it messes with your health you really do need to change - your body is trying to tell you something. Even if its not stress, it can had a detremintal effect on you and your familty. It's not worth it.

You are doing the right thing. The company does not care about the employees at all. Collect your paycheck while you are looking for another job. Mikey and his monkey boy CFO are looking out only for themselves, you should too.
