One has to think how old is Hatchet? The Ford family? When did seasoned, intelligent employees become obsolete? They are making a HUGE mistake. Sales will go down and recalls will rise.

This is nothing compared to the lower end employees in the Business Centers. Ford brings in these college kids every year and pays them almost double what tenured employees make and only promotes them. Over the past two years one department has replaced 6 employees all 6 replacements under 30 and employees over 40 were not even considered.

Please tell me that they didn't buy a GM.

All things considered, GM layoffs were worse than Ford's

Ethics were TRUMPED by profits. Hey Bill what about the Service bulletins ( Transmisions, 1.5 engine blocks with cylinder sleeves that crack) that should be fricken RECALLS???

Buy a Honda. They are more "American" than Ford.

I’m not sure this was good for business or PR. I was let go and know of four people who were in the market for a car and had planned to buy a ford but switched to a competitor because of what happened to me. They know how devoted I was, how hard I worked and how near to retirement I was. Some consumers don’t want to do business with a company they perceive to be unethical. Especially for such a large purchase. All of the other people who were let go know people too.

You just have to wonder what young intelligent people are going to want to work there. Ford does this every 10 years, then they blame the CEO, hire a new one, and hire cheaper employees. It's a horrible way to run a business.

Cuts are tough, but when you cut some of the most talented employees to avoid pensions instead of trying to shed some dead-weight, you are setting the company up for failure.

I am not sure it is illegal to have targeted those with pensions, but it sure sounds cold. I am approaching my 30 year mark (at age 49) and as such have really earned over 97 percent of that chunk of money. Some bean counter is thrilled to have found a genius way to save big bucks. I get it pensions are a big liability. But what does it tell you about about doing the right thing or putting people first? Not to mention morale levels when those who are left realize that your 29.x years of service is worth zilch to the company. I have heard many remarkable employees were included and they fit the pension-avoidance criteria and nothing else.

You are employed at will. You will settle out of court with a little more than your due severance. You have attorney fees and court costs. Why waste your time. Suing is like playing c-aps. You have to get vewy vewy lucky with the judge, system, jury you get. Gooooood Luck.

I hope they win this. In a very short amount of time my pension would have increased by 50% and I am feeling rather raw about it. I signed the weaver because I was in no position to pass on the guaranteed cash for the possibility of cash years from now. There are too many people who were approaching a pension milestone to think that wasn’t part of their plan. Many of us were told our job function was no longer in the organizational strategy only to hear a week later that a GSR was given our responsibilities. Some lost positions were filled by GSRs who were promoted to LL6 without going through the interview process. There are externally posted positions in my job family. Something smells a little “off”. Why would they release high performing people who have the exact skills needed in other open positions?

Maybe some should have taken a class regarding employment law, it would have saved them time, energy and money. However, some still want to do it their way, or the lonsway.

Man I wish I could have been in position to file along with them. I was not, so I signed the bloody forms.

I hope they win 3x what they were screwed out of.

Wish the woman well. The woman will likely get a half million settlement. What she is saying is true the LL5 and above were bridged to their significant numbers. In addition some LL6 were bridged to age 55. One person was bridged two months another person bridged a month.

Some LL6 demoted to allow them to hit their significant number a year from now.

We have always known that some people are more equal than others.

Class action - glad the attorneys will be getting paid, the majority amount of nothing.
