The number of horrible decisions per month is the highest I've ever seen. The wholesale destruction of working and reliable systems for new unreliable systems is depressing. The total lack of accountability for management is demoralizing. They make lousy decisions and pick bad tech that doesn't work, then turn around and pick more bad tech that doesn't work. Its an utter sh-- show of bad tech management going on ... and a total scorched earth outsourcing of everything to the India subsidiary.

Jeff’s favorite quote according to him is “Simplicity is genius”. He won’t be content until he has eliminated practically every employee. Our sales force will be a web site that asks one question, “What speed would you like.” Equipment will be shipped to the customer with a self install link and contract companies will be an option for the less tech savvy. We as employees need only outlast his time as CEO as it’s unlikely that anyone with a conscience could be remotely as anti labor as he is. Investors are on to him and his attempts to make us look like a rising company by eliminating essential employees and failing to replace things like inventory and motor vehicles as well as eliminating overtime which helps restore service to our customers in a timely fashion.. He has long ago lost the confidence of his workforce and as a result productivity is at a crawl. A brief inspection of our company home page will show his insecurity of his future with this company as he has removed the ability for employees to comment on posts and the CTL stock ticker is now removed as well.

Jeff pretty much tells you how he intends to bring the company down in his broadcasts.

-Accelerate conversion of telco products to technology products and spend money to retire old products. Say “no” to customer on low demand products. Streamline product offerings and get out of profitable ventures that aren’t lucrative. (K--l phone company business even if it’s an expense)

-Develop self-service diagnostics on products (force customers to do tech’s job)

-Eliminate departments that don’t bring “operational value”. (Including moderately profitable departments that don’t align with the company vision)

-No Christmas bonus as he doesn’t believe in across the board bonuses, only performance based bonuses. (Clearly, given our stock price, this doesn’t apply to him)

-Robotic process automation. (Automate any job that possibly can be eliminated. Already being seen in areas like service assurance. )

One company, one culture: Harmonize benefits. (Given that Jeff followed this announcement by saying it would be painful, it’s safe to say he has no intention of bringing his sweatshop labor force up to Phone company standards, but rather bring the higher end benefits down to bare minimums.)

Screaming poverty, taking more away and adding more duties to a job title without increasing compensation, again the scream poverty and that one company one culture everyone does it all mentality. Will begin preliminary Negotiations and ask for the workers to give back salary, pay more for benefits and try to take away PTD and Vacation time. Will sell off something as a threat leverage. More VSPP and more surpluses. Have to save money for that new Complex and soon to be Head quarters in Miami ya know.

"I think the rest of the year will continue to be good. I guess I must be looking at the glass half full. Technically the Level 3 management has turned the ship right size/side. As a company we are making our numbers. Most of the negativity on this board comes from old timers wishing they could ride another 5 or more years out in their van. It’s to bad there is so much hate. Look at the numbers people. National and enterprise makes their numbers, unfortunately local can’t because of the customer base. Sorry copper is a dead product can’t keep employees if it’s not making money and it hasn’t in years. There is more to this company than copper techs. By the way by the end of the year 10 local markets will be sold."

I am pretty sure the Tech install both copper and Fiber in many places now, there is hardly a one trick pony anywhere in my area. So your hate for the Senior technicians is just that. They are the techs that take a bad design and make it right, half the newer techs can't even check light levels or give themselves a short on copper and or read their work order. Not really their fault they don't train them anymore and throw them in the fire with no support.

The company sure isn't making the stock market numbers. Are you kidding me ? The person commenting below sure isn't looking at all the numbers. The company could be getting fined for not showing up for locates and costing big utility contractors time and money. What a shame. They will get fined a bunch to save a nickle. That there is the Level 3 brains at work. When will it stop ?

I think if you are legacy CTL you are screwed. If you are L Qwest you have a fair chance and Level 3 is the golden child. They are making life in the L CTL business offices pure he77!! Trying to terminate as many as possible before closing the doors to prevent paying severance pkgs. Impossible goals to meet! Only a matter of time until L. CTL is no more!

With Level 3 management running the show it can't be good. All they know is get rid of good people and keep taking what little is left from the technicians. Someone please step in and turn this company around. Obviously what they are doing is not working.

They are getting ready to start paying huge fines for poor service levels, Tennessee is first and others right behind. They pay more in fines than they make, so it can't last.
