Clearly we all know you have a disability so answer the question CORRECTLY and get back to work.
It’s always been that way. HIPPA is irrelevant, because it’s a VOLUNTARY self-id of disability. You don’t have to put anything down, even if you do have a disability. EEO is required by law, and if you’ll notice they didn’t ask you that question prior to you being hired.
This is HR fishing to see if you’re in a protected class - if you answer yes, they will group you in that protected class which makes it more difficult to terminate you. I would answer yes.
