Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Recruiter called trying to fill DXC jobs...

I had a call from a recruiter trying to fill a role, during the call she realized I currently work for DXC. She asked if I had anyone I would recommend for the job, to which I stated I wouldn't due that due to the massive layoffs. She seemed surprised, and said they had a bunch of DXC jobs in her company to fill and it was considered a "major initiative" to fill these DXC jobs.

These were tech jobs, among the departments she mentioned was vulnerability management, which is confusing because all of these departments are in the middle of laying people off. So, I'm not sure if DXC is trying to let everyone go and hire new, cheaper talent, but something sketchy is going on.

I recently received a caller from a recruiter talking about the positives of working for DXC. When asked if the recruiter would work for DXC (I asked them first) they refused to answer and became quite defensive. RAO got you back tossbag!

"Yes they are laying off "expensive incumbent headcount" to recruit in country low cost replacements."

As one of the expensive incumbent headcounts up until Friday, can confirm.

After 21 years, I can't say I'll miss this place. Each new company that bought us was a little more dysfunctional and evil.

You have to lawyer up to get a proper settlement but it's well worth the 15% of any thing above the initial offer that seems to be the norm in Canada.

Yes they are laying off "expensive incumbent headcount" to recruit in country low cost replacements. Where possible they will make a geographical switch.

Only graduates or person doing a temporary stint would work for DXC and even then they should consider the news articles, feedback on job review sites before considering a job at DXC.

No one else who has experienced especially in Europe or America should join a company with a bad reputation, poor outlook and constant WFR's + stress that comes with it - likely doing more than one job and working overtime + nights without any overtime pay or promotion or wage increases

Any recruiter that calls me to offer a role with DXC should be ashamed or accepting dirty money which was used to WFR older yet more experienced employees that generate more value compared to the troop of baboons known as graduates. Shame on DXC.

A recruiter receives a brief from DXC for a certain skills set and discovers the best people to fill these positions are the very people DXC just fired. Surprise! Surprise!

Clearly, not only does DXC not have a clue about what's its doing, it has no trajectory either. DXC is asking staff what their brand should represent nearly two years into its life. They are firing their Next Gen teams and staff they hired and trained only 2 years ago. Disposal resource instead of cross-training.

Vulnerability management is likely to be a growth area for DXC, as most of the risk is now internal with plenty of opportunity for disgruntled employees or items not being reported that should be, as in 'Why should I care?' As a client, you don't want your Business, personal, IP and financial data stored with a supplier with all this internal turmoil.

But luckily the SLA's on service and delivery are red at the moment, so the big clients are likely to be distracted. But wait, SLA's? Isn't that old school these days? Shouldn't IT be focused on the user experience these days of using XLA's? That would require a new kind of digital 'red' that was active and flashing on all devices to allow client CIO's to distinguish it from DXC's legacy 'red'.

I had a call too. I politely declined. Only a fool would return to an organisation that made them redundant previously. Or someone desperate. I am neither.

Back thirty five years ago, when GM bought EDS, the question came up whether EDS employees would be unionized like our GM counterparts. Ross Perot said something to the effect that unions were not needed if employees were treated well. And EDS did indeed treat their employees well. Since 2008 it's been a long slow slide to the bottom here in the USA, but DXC is the absolute pits. Their greed is only exceeded by their stupidity. It's just sad.

I like to bash the way things are done in Europe, but I have to hand it to them that the employee councils, which I think is like a union, have been good at securing benefits that favor the employee when sacked by c-appy companies. So yea, I’m ready for something similar in the US.

DXC and ETHICS ? Please , someone pass me my iron lung as I recover from this endless laugh attack . They are doing what it takes to bring in the magic numbers . That’s it - end of motive. They don’t care about the human cost until it cuts into their profit margin with negative returns for them .

Ready for a union yet ?

I know I am .

Did the recruiter offer to find you a new role outside DXC?

Probably not.

They are parasite scum. Worse than estate agents.

LOL - 3 months after I quit, I got a call from a local recruiter looking for a contractor to fill a position. I recognized the position, because the job description was the one I wrote for my useless off-shore HR manager before I left, and the location was the office where I'd just quit from...

The payrate was considerably less than I was making before I quit...but it would have cost them more going through the contract house...

Just be thankful they called you. It means you must be under 35 and near the right location. Although I doubt they offered a location move to those they are getting rid of.

I think the whole getting rid of older (oops, I mean more experienced) staff to replace them with younger (oops! I meant more cost effective) staff could only be argued in court if age discrimination was used as a visible criteria. But you won't see that used officially. DXC will argue its the wrong skill mix and it sounds like you have already ave the skills they are looking for. So I'd keep this as a record in case DXC try to lay you off at a later date as then skills won't be the reason, will it?

Although not sure layoff is the correct term, because these roles are permanently gone or redundant.

If you are expecting any kind of moral scruples from DXC to be less obvious about hiring before the roles have gone or announcing CR before the VR status has been announced, then I think that boat sailed long ago.

The roles they are trying to fill are probably in different locations to those roles subject to layoffs.
