Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

3-week rural internet outage??

"The prolonged loss of internet connection for several residents in the town of Busti has highlighted the difficulties of providing high-speed connectivity for those living in rural areas of New York. Darlene and Brian McIntyre say they were just one of many in the area of Pine Ridge Road in Busti who had been without internet for more than three weeks. The pair have service through Windstream, and were told by a representative that regaining the connection had been problematic."

This isn't just happening in NY. The same thing is happening in KY. It might not be 3 weeks of an customer being out of service but it can take up to a week for a residential customer in an urban area like Lexington. The management team have decided that free upgrades and new orders are more important than trouble reports for existing customers. I can only assume this is a directive from TT so he can inflate the numbers to show growth so he can get his bonus.

What is Windstream even doing offering broadband in rural NY using Verizon lines? How can they make any money doing that?

Oh, and thanks for the love, by the way. I still hope you survive -- a lot of us depend on you.

Perhaps you may even depend on us

Lol ws has almost no presence in NY. And that still doesn’t answer why this complain fest got started. Not about layoffs. Go back to jerking yourself off.

Verizon does not own the copper in Busti NY The spans running to that remote have been a big problem for a long time. What does WS do about it? They test power pairs for Lunar sites that they can’t get customers into. Some of you expert anonymous commentators should probably just shut up if you have no idea what you are talking about.

Thats incorrect, in ILEC areas Windstream owns everything and Verizon has no presence. in CLEC territories Verizon owns the copper from the POT Bay in the collo to the customer prem

"so, that's a verizon problem in this area"

Are you sure? Why would these people be complaining about Windstream if they're on Verizon?

Verizon owns the copper out there not Windstream. The issue with rural circuits is the copper / lack of fiber nodes... so, that's a verizon problem in this area. Not sure why this is even posted here.

Like our CEO says, this place is not a prison. If you don't like it, why don't you make like a tree and get the f--- out of here.

Happens in NYC too. I was dispatched to a collo where WIN had cost savings migrations 2-3 weeks prior. I got the trouble tickets stating "cannot see Verizon". I get there and the T1s were not wired between the mux and Verizon CFA. I looked at the history and WIN never put in a request to wire and pencil whipped the test and accept portion and simply cut the T1s to the new CFAs. When they T1s did not restore after the cut they didnt roll them back, just opened a trouble ticket. WIN repair and Verizon pointed the finger back and forth for nearly 3 weeks and then setup a vendor meet. I arrived onsite and simply wired the T1s. And this happens quite a bit, usually the downtime is 1-2 weeks tho
