Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

You can tell the old time Dell guys in this string. I worked for Dell for six years, six years too long. It k–led my career in many ways and was a time of constant turmoil and being treated like a barnyard animal by Dell legacy AE's that can't sell value if their lives depended on it. Being a specialist with a pedigree from real tech companies like Cisco, EMC, Oracle and Aruba I will state flatly that the average Dell AE and SE could not compete in most cases. Dell is NOT a tech company , Dell is a company that acquired some tech and then tried to force it into the commodity hive mind of a legacy laptop maker. Think on that. Do the folks from EMC and VMware have ego's???? Yes and they should they come from high level sales backgrounds where you don't walk through the door , drop your pants and try to win only on price and a smile as with Dell. Management is tougher, demands of excellence higher and rewards were at one time better. VMware is a great company but showing its age... if it allowed Dell to force it to become like Dell it would disappear in ten years. So before legacy Dell folks whine go work at a truly great company, a true high tech company not a giant Fry's Warehouse and then point fingers.

Legacy Dell - volume sales tin openers. So price driven it’s sickening. Tucci did what he had to do, fair enough but man there is a long way to go. Pivotal, VMware and EMC offer tremendous value, I hope they can figure out how to get Dell selling value not price otherwise they all go down.

Of course there's egos: who has the best relationship, who has been working on the deal, who is the lead, but with DTS in play now, a lot of that noise has gone away... though VMWare do need to chill out a little. Overall, customer's are loving the Dech Tech message.

This is bananas. I am working on several cross company projects. I work for Dell and the projects include VMware and RSA. The people I have worked with have been awesome. Are there probably people with attitudes. Sure, but there are in any company. In general with the size and scope of what Dell Technologies contains, the cross-collaboration and go-to-market only gets better.

Vmware employees seem to have this ego thinking they are better than everyone. Dell should sell off vmware as it's a toxic place to work.

Dell has done a very good job of keeping independant orgs running and even competing in the merger, without really many issues. It's a far cry from many other whale M+A that have just meant massive redundo's and collapsed market share.

Um, I think Dell had to buy them because Dell was acting too much like Dell and couldn’t stay afloat on their own.

VMWare is a separate company and had a fiduciary duty to their entire shareholder base, not just Dell.

Maybe it's the parent that's delusional for thinking that their way is better.

It's time for Dell to embrace it's acquisitions and realize that it's the one that's behind and holding things back.
