UK Chesterfield Office to close - confirmed

Dear Colleagues

The company's relentless downsizing of UK positions has now taken on a new turn. Having informed the government and unions that as many as 2150 jobs could go, to date there has been 1000+ voluntary redundancy applications. Before even the VR exercise was completed management have now announced a proposal that involves compulsory redundancies across the company and including shutting the Chesterfield Regional Delivery Centre.

This would only leave Newcastle, Erskine, Chorley and Aldershot as UK Regional Delivery Centres. Outside of the UK the only other country with a large non digital service based is the U.S. and there engineers are working a day free to save their jobs and agreeing terms and conditions reductions.

The Union will run a campaign to save Chesterfield as we have done previously; the clients are predominantly public sector and are highly sensitive accounts.

Chesterfield employs over 300 workers and the work cannot be offshored in most cases.

The Company's objective is to transfer to digital working as quickly as possible. Yet, among the voluntary redundancy applications are numerous employees with digital skills. It is not easy to work out the company's real objectives. Certainly, with such large cuts the pressures on those with jobs is clear. Many managers have expressed concerns at being able to deliver for clients. Nobody can be certain that anywhere is truly safe. If DXC colleagues who are not in a union approach you or you are talking to them please direct them to join Unite at www.unitetheunion.org/join

Don't forget about the Peterlee office. It's still there for now.

What a load of rubbish Unite is. They didn't save Hook when HPE/DXC had a lot more than 300 staff working there and all the ex HPE secure contracts were run out of there. Any ex CSC secure contracts can be run out of Erskine or Aldershot. For staff not willing to move, find a new job. They didn't save all the other locations that DXC and HPE previously closed down. The union is a total waste of space in the UK in our industry. It has no metal. In addition our workers councils have no teeth. The Mikey train will roll over us all.

Invest your Union subscriptions in one of those BitCoin Trading platform scams - you'll get a much better return.

Well at least Mike Lawrie can pay anything he owes on his second pad in palm beach. Sad for normal people who contributed to dxc reporting profits for last financial year only to be left with a bleak future.

for %^^%%^%^ sake anyone involved with computers has digital skills and this has been the case since the dawn of computers.

Even after we lose the un/fortunate people and sites outside the 4 there likely be more WFR to follow and the remaining 4 sites will become more and more sparse with staff and skills, wonder how this affect mobile workers - they likely need to relocate to great expense to themselves or leave the company.

I'd give joining Unite a miss, they did f**k all for us when EDS started making cuts, if I remember correctly they parked a van outside Stockley Park with a banner on it and nothing end.

Take the tenner a month and spend it on redundancy insurance instead.

This is really bad news for the people and the town of Chesterfield. I used to work at Manor Offices until I moved companies last year. My best wishes to many ex colleagues, some dating back to the post office days. It is simply horrible what CSC and now DXC have been doing to so many folks.

Sad sad day for L-CSC staff. Once a strong proud workforce now whittled down to bare bones. Really is an end of an era
