Decertification is a difficult process. You'll have to prove, with documentation, failure to represent which shouldn't be too hard to find cases of. Dismissals that go unchallenged, arbitrary changes of job definitions that are simply signed off on, failure to hold regular meetings, representative election abnormalities, there are lots and lots of failings that a good read of the bylaws and labor relations act will show you. There is also the requirement that you go unrepresented for a year before holding a vote for new Union representation. It wold take a lot of work and time to do and one Union in particular knows this. That is why they are as lax as possible in defending members and keep a cozy friendship with the company in what should be a more adversarial relationship. Your better off with a union by far even if you dislike your local reps, but you deserve better representation. Best bet is to get involved and make change that way.
Yeah the company really showed their colors with how they treat their managers. Really hurt their management recruiting pool also as you had really good techs who would go over to management at the end of their career for the pension increase. They really understood their job and got the most out of their technicians. Now good techs laugh at them when asked to become managers. They treat their non represented employees so well I saw a good tech go over to management and quit in less than two weeks. There are things I like about unions and things I don’t but this company is really high on the not to be trusted companies out there so I’ll continue to pay my dues thanks. Just my opinion.
Do it
Someone taking the pulse of the Membership from Management or HR probably.
I agree. I don’t need a pension like they took from management or vacation like they took from management and 1/3 of my pay and medical insurance that covers less. If you don’t want the union get a management job. Your problem solved.
For what purpose? That's a bit of a vague thread.
