A bunch of people have commented that Windstream’s CLEC business may not be very viable. I can see how relying on others’ facilities to serve customers may not have good prospects.
How about situations where Windstream has its own fiber (leased from Uniti) all the way to the customer? Can that still potentially be a good business?
The CLEC business will never be worth a damn. That is just a fact. CLECs do not survive in countries without forced competition with the US does not have. The sooner Windstream can find a way to jettison the rotting CLEC portion of the business the better off it will be.

FCC rate increases relate to BDS. The Fiber part has and will continue to be unregulated.
About those places Windstream serves without its own fiber (leased from Uniti) — my understanding was that the telcos that actually own those facilities will be able to yank up the rates next year due to an FCC ruling.

If it is, an you still make a viable business offering service at those locations?
Windstream is in the process of shutting down their TDM/Sonet network. And they have very few instances where they have fiber to a customer prem. They are going SD-WAN/OfficeSuite for their portfolio, you do not need a network for that. Just some NNIs back to a few datacenter cabinets.
Sure when you already have the fiber in the ground and can keep higher profit margins.
The real question is this. How narcissistic is it to film yourself just for your own vanity?
