Thread regarding Ford layoffs

GSR is most definitely included.

May 21 is only the end of the SRD. As part of the SRD being in place these cuts will happen on a yearly basis. Most people already know who they are. Want to know why? Check your LL/GSR PR rating. Low rated are gone next week. Rinse and repeat next year. Low will be gone again. And there aren’t enough lows in this round so do that math. The SRD is done. It’s a long term strategy to try and make Ford competitive and injected with new blood and purge low performers. Not coincidentally many of the low performers are those who have no interest in learning and getting better and instead counting up their pension money. Good move for Ford!!! Why should Ford pay $100K compensation to non-contributors? This is a simple and straightforward opportunity to cut hundreds of millions over the next decade. Work hard, be flexible, learn incoming new processes and technologies and most importantly - have a good attitude. There are good performers being eliminated who p-ss-d off the wrong managers by being snobby. They are gone.

@Z6LoD04 you must be agency. For the record: it doesn't matter what people post on here. It does not and will not change the outcome of what is to come. Also, you said Ford invests 100,000 a year on non-contibutors, but I seen agency people getting paid the same that don't contribute. Ford employees have a vested interest in seeing Ford succeed. It is Ford employees who buy Ford cars, not agency. Most agency people I know do not drive Ford vehicles. This is not an all inclusive statement, but from what I have seen it is primarily true.

Bottom line: this whole forum is all speculation and rumors because this is the best kept secret ever and is being kept at the highest levels until Tuesday. I keep hearing its all GSR's and other information that I know not to be true because I have heard straight from my 5 what is going to happen and who will be targeted. With that being said, nothing is written in stone until this is over and then all shall be revealed.

Agency are let go all the time. SRD is specifically a Blue Badge initiative thus the severance packages and complete reorganization of GSR under new managers. Strictly from a cost-cutting standpoint the plan is being executed now and forecasted out for the next decade. Salaried employee costs savings goals are in the 10’s millions a year by letting go the low PR rating people and encouraging retirement to get the pension costs off the books. Right now pension-eligible under 35 years in are accruing additional cost to the company. Ford wants this number to stop growing soon. Then they can fully fund the pension in one full swoop and move forward without that yearly cost on the books. Agency are valued as they have no cost other than their rate. I agree with those who are dissatisfied with certain non-contributors seeming to stay due to connections and butt-kissing. Upper management knows this goes on. That is why this one purge won’t be the last. The problem can only be solved by purging low rated PR people on an ongoing basis. Which is the plan. It has two benefits - saving 10’s of million $$ yearly (and each year after even more), and getting the great people promotions and working on value-added projects.

Ford is one Titanic-like beast to get righted. They are trying and it’s painful for people there. But realize, it’s a long-term strategy to keep the company in business !

The person who started this post is probably agency who wants to stir things up. All the post I read stating that no agency will be hit and is all GSR is bull ****. Agency and GSR will both be hit, but only low performing GSR's. Anthing else is pure speculation without proof backing up those claims.

If the LL6 would do their job and put the deadwood on PIP and move them out there would not be a need for the layoffs.

Same goes for the higher levels

This is complete speculation. Will there be more layoffs on the future, someday? Of course. But no one knows when. It's impossible to say this without knowing how well or poorly or business will go from here in the coming years. Stop the fear mongering.
