Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Things are so much better outside of DXC

Left DXC a while ago as it was really paralizing. Management that goes left and right and that bombards you with last minute changes that lead nowhere. as a worker you know it does not work and just adds up to your (already heavy) workload. Mandatory tools being implemented without being tested (and so they do not work) does not help when you are trying to close a deal with a customer in a few days. It felt like you needed to get your project through despite an internal war that is trying to stop you from being succesful. A big oil tanker that is stearless on the ocean with a blind captain that gives in structions but who has never seen water. I am now an entrepreneur myself, and am so much more happy. I can make my own decission based on analytics and feeling. I try for my own company to keep up to speed with all the changes both commercial and technical, and to be honnest, I think my business is more digital now then DXC will be in the next year. So Funny, as DXC fired so many older (experienced) people with a stupid excuse of not being DIgital enough. I used to be a cloud architect with focus on SAP Hana and with a big interest in AI and Blockchain. But Mikey can - due to his high age - not follow anymore with new Digital developments (that are actually not so new anymore) so he thinks all older people are like that - and decided that as many +45 age people as possible need to leave the company . He was just so ignorant to know that +45 age people in his company were often in possitions where they were obliged to be on top of all new technologies when they need to make solutions for customers ...(which new graduated are not yet). I am so happy to be out!

OP is @Z5P6Mox-1wai.

I say - continue posting all the GOOD things that are happening to you after you have left this dump called DXC.

@@Z68wVDm-3bby - Hope this opens your eyes and brain and clears your muddied thoughts, muddied with anger, fear, rejection. Realize that there is a world outside of DXC that is far better, even if it is not the best.

So pleased it's worked out well for you. I felt great after visiting one of the customers where they appreciated my technical skills and said I was highly skilled. I'm over 45 myself and don't feel my techical skills are appreciated at DXC, so I'm contemplating leaving soon for a better future. All the very best, good to hear of your success.

Your comments hold much truth, and the old adage is true; in business, experience really does count. Surprising Mikey doesn't seem to appreciate that, seeing as he's 65 years old himself (chances are he does, but doesn't care).

Most techies in their 50's have already committed to keeping their skills up to date, and put in many hours of effort to do so. Indeed, the diverse and increasing range of technologies out there, means it's too easy to choose a Betamax path, spending time acquiring a skill that soon turns out to be obsolete.

But the truth is, those bad choices and decisions are what develop experience, insight, wisdom, sagacity. Shame that doesn't seem to apply to much of the middle management layer in DXC. As you say, many of them are clueless.

So understandably, you now appreciate having escaped from DXC, and being able to forge your own destiny. I wish you good luck for the future.
