Thread regarding Riverbed Technology Inc. layoffs

Goodbye, Xirrus

For those who stayed awake during last week CIBU All-hands, you noticed DM's not-so-subtle hint that xirrus is going away. It's not big secret that PM is not a fan of that acquisition and he is probably found a willing buyer at this point. All 8 employees at xirrus were most certainly shocked to hear they getting a new poppa soon.

So polish your resumes xirrus people! Or see who the next owner will be now.

Hmmmm, I wonder why Xirrus revenue disappeared? Maybe because we fired all their sales reps and told our sales reps to not sell Xirrus. Maybe it's because all other POs are prioritized over those for Xirrus gear. Maybe it's because we gave up on Xirrus the moment PM took charge. Kinda hard to boost revenue with that kind of "support" from the parent company.

Funny, if you try to k--l a product it does tend to die. Let's hope we sell them before they can't be resuscitated.

Xirrus revenue has dried up completely and requires MASSIVE investment to move to WiFi 6. It’s not worth it. Unless we can fool someone into buying it.

I heard the opposite. Xirrus is the only bright spot and may get spun off to pay down debt.

Ocedo's hardware and software was very low quality, definitely not enterprise-ready. Xirrus is a great replacement for Ocedo in every way, if only the leadership still wanted it.

Ocedo had a wireless SD-WAN device they k--led off after the Xirrus acquisition. Wonder if they’ll bring it back. I didn’t hear great things about it, back in the day.

@Z5rI147-1qiw Of course there has been no investment in wifi 6 at xirrus. If you were going to sell off a BU would you invest in any new projects in that BU? Xirrus is a hardware business and PM wants software. Never mind that most of our revenue is from hardware, and always has been.

@Z5rI147-1lvr You are not selling SCON without wifi/switches anyway so what's the difference?

Isn’t WiFi an integral part of the Human Experience these days?

It’s too late, every other vendor has WiFi 6 functionality and has a controller to boot. Having a roadmap for Xirrus is an exercise in futility.

Ok, so he wasn’t CEO the day xirrus was bought but was the following. Don’t be stupid, he would have been all over the acquisition and had final sign off as he’d been CEO in waiting for at least 3 months prior.

Nope, PM was not the CEO when xirrus was acquired, PM became CEO on 4/18, RVBD acquired xirrus on 4/17.

Mountie was CEO when xirrus was bought so why isn’t he a fan of a business he signed off on?
