Anyone on here have any info on what is on the VR assessment and how the whole interview process or job offers will go? Any advice anyone can offer those wanting to apply?

It sounds like a job title for MCDonalds. Crew leader . Manager sounds like an adult position. When you change jobs a manager sounds like you had real responsibilities not just learning to manage.
What are the chances that ASMs that apply will get the job over any current Personnel associates is the question

It was my experience at that company that upper management had a select list of people already in mind they wanted for things like this, in spite of having to make it publicly available. If you had made that cut, they'd likely come to you. If you hadn't, it literally didn't matter how many hoops you jumped through or who's a$$ you kissed, all you'd get is one string of lies after another.
Not saying don't try, but be ready for some bitter dissappointment ; some failures not of your lacking, but of their bullsh!t politics.
My advise, find a new job.
