Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Gsr/agency

I am hearing that the May layoffs will be management only, and there will be another phase in June for GSRs and agency. Can anyone confirm?

Several sources shared that the focus of SRD was never GSR and that the only GSR who will be let go are those doing work that will literally be totally stopped.

In one IT org (OCIO), 20 percent reduction of workforce, but 98 percent of that total is LL6+. 2% are GSR whose type of work is being stopped.

Several sources confirm this is the last wave. No further reductions after this week. Next month, at least for IT, is restructuring fallout. Many will be without a manager or supervisor for several weeks until it's all sorted out.

No visibility for changes in ITO, information restricted to LL4+. However sources believe it will be similar to the above, and GSR is largely safe.

Small comfort. I'm still on edge until Tues passes and the private appointments stop.

Of course, these are just predictions.

In our area there is an LL5 that has 2 LL6 reports. One of them has 1 GSR direct report and the other one has zero direct reports. What does that tell you?

You can’t just get rid of GSR. The ratio target is 1:8 (LL6:GSR) give or take a few. We were told this in our meeting with the LL4. This was after they let go the LL5s.

Forgot to add that for IT, I doubt 50% of GSR's would be going, as by policy LL level can't be involved in coding of software or in code deployments, either. GSR's are doing all the work, so if 50% were broomed out IT would grind to a halt, as it takes a month to bring in contract/agency/consultants, and they can't even ship more work to India as they made a move to consolidate coding operations in India late ;last year and last 50% of their staff as they did not want to move to Chennai. IT also lost quite a few people to the PRP program last year (in my former area alone, 7 management level people took the offer for IT), and then this year the IT PDO redesign has up ended many people.

So let's not make blanket statements about GSR's....the truth is again no one will know the impact until is it over next week, and then we'll have to spend most of the summer trying to figure out how to deliver what we are supposed to deliver.

Yes, rumors are rumors...and a lot of them are going around. However, the one poster to this thread is factually correct - each skill area is managing the process themselves, so the number and disposition of type of employees that will be let go will vary. So, for example, PD may have high number of agency/contract types go, with smaller number of LL and GSR...while maybe Finance might have larger percentage of only blue badge going. The problem, no one really knows...

I have a work colleague whom was a LL5 tell me back in January that the IT skill area had a target of 300 headcount reductions. She is very active in the PDC council and the rumor/gossip mill....plus in the past her advice about what was going on was very accurate, so I would believe her . However, the disposition of the 300 is not widely know....in the past in the IT area they would look to get rid of agency/contract people first, but whom knows? All we can do is wait....

Agency don’t get a package. They aren’t part of SRD obviously. Those who think GSR’s aren’t part of SRD are either on d--gs or in wishful denial. 50% at least will be GSR on Tuesday getting the boot.

It all depends on what org you are in as to the "plan". We have been told all actions will be done by end of June. Management layers are next week. I have been told GSRs are safe but will only believe it when this is all over and no GSRs have been released. I don't think anyone is safe, regardless of the color of their badge, until this thing is completely done. It keeps getting pushed out so don't be surprised if it lasts until the end of the year.

@1dxn... Rumors are rumors, just like what you are speaking. Prove that you have a source or don't talk lies.

A lot of stuff going around. I heard from my 5 that it would primarily be agency people. There is no wave after this is over. My 5 told me that, and it was info that came from my 2 so it is accurate. Agency will get hit the hardest, but am sure low performing GSR's will be hit too.

Next week everyone should know if they have job or not. June is not about notifications. More of the new layout. We should be done with this mess by end of next week

GSR is excluded for this wave in IT. They will not be until June/July.

Our department was supposed to be end of May, however, they are behind, so the cuts have been extended to June\July.

No agency included? Source?

Upper management was told what to do a month ago - identify all the Ford people from LL5->GSR to cut and turn the names in. That’s been done for a while. And the list is significant. No agency are included.

GSR’s are most definitely included next week and make up at least 50% of the layoffs. Agency have nothing to do with SRD.

I didn't think gsrs would be excluded, I just heard that they aren't included in next weeks cuts. There is an additional cut in June for GSRs and agency.

I have never heard of anything beyond the current "wave" which is supposedly the final wave and is supposed to be completed by the end of May. But it's a big company so your department may vary.

I don't think upper management even knows what they want to do. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that next weeks "meetings" are delayed for another month.

SRD is Blue Badge only and yes GSR is absolutely included. Why would you think they’d be excluded?? Agency have no job security at any time anyway. Going forward Ford Employees won’t either. But at least they get severance.
