Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Disappointed and Discouraged in IT !!

Windstream used to be a place I was proud to come to everyday and excited for the work that we were doing. I have been a very loyal and positive influencial employee for the last 25+ years. Always trying to look at the positive, but it has been hard to do lately.

I have seen the morale in IT go down more and more every year for the last 5 or so years. We are treated like our opinions don't matter and when suggesting ideas or bringing up concerns, we are thought of as negative. The best solutions come out of collaboration with multiple team members opinions. A great example of this is when the vendor was chosen for Dragonfly. This vendor choice was disliked by most and after seeing it demo'd within the first few months, most IT and business said it was "awful" and "difficult" to work in. Now, here we are 3 1/2 years later with <10 orders done in production, those top execs are finally seeing what we all saw way back when... but were looked at as Nay sayers!!!

We have a great IT team but no matter how hard we try to keep our heads up and work harder than we ever have... The stress of the working environment, impossible deadlines, lack of appreciation, lack of confidence by Executive management and the extremely poor morale is making it hard to stay positive.

It doesn't help that we haven't seen increases the last 3 years and were told that they are no longer in our future...

It also doesn't help that we push through working 60/70 hour work weeks wondering what our future holds(do we stick it out or not), then we see the execs getting millions of dollars for "motivation".. Where is our motivation? Oh that's right .. We get a paycheck.. Why is that not motivation enough for those precious Execs?

I have not heard from our new CIO since he took over which is disappointing. Shouldn't he be coming to the IT sites and motivating us and showing some appreciation for all the work we keep doing with an uncertain future. The morale can only go up from here, right? It needs to start from the top as I believe that is the source of the problem.

Said so well. Work the minimum. They don’t care about you. Who cares if you get needs improvement there is No Raise for You as the salary nazi says. Wait, not a prison. I am confused.

Honestly if you are still working 60-70 hours a week you are a fool. You should know by now that you are just a number to the corporation. Why k--l yourself for these people? Yes I know what you are going to say. I still care about doing a good job blah, blah, blah. You can do a good job and be productive and work 40 hours a week. I know guys who worked every night and every weekend and when it was time to lay someone off it didn't matter. They were released. So my advice to you is slow down, Work to your best ability for the required ahours and then go enjoy your life. Take your kids to the park. No kids? Take your wife to dinner. Single? Take yourself out. Don't waste your life working for a faceless corporation who doesn't give a $h!t about you.

read the earnings call notes. Everything is great, growth rates are through the roof.

However the facts say they lost 2 billion dollars. they do stand alone among their peers. They stand alone in bankruptcy. Their churn rates are high, their new SDWan sales are nothing more than writing down VPN networks to keep the business. Don’t get caught in their lies.

I saw the bankruptcy coming long ago, but you guys continue to believe the garbage they’re feeding you. At some point it’s your faults for being stupid.

Some of you guys believed Tbag was going to win the lawsuit. It was written in black and white In front of your eyes and you kept saying “Tbag said”.

Can’t sale and leaseback and that’s what they did. . Now you’re believing everything is ok.

Get a grip. They’re lying to you to keep you digging ditches

Same is true for the both BUs and production network. All these jackholes directors and VPs all seem to know better. Any small bit of feedback is seen as descent and is frowned upon. It's a joke. This place is a joke. This network is a joke. So much potential wasted due to bad leadership. There only motivation is a bonus based on cost cutting and while they do accomplish that goal they cut thin critical aspects of the business, the stuff that drives the company, drives growth. Yet don't worry kids that @$$hat principal, director, VP will just make up his own numbers and send it up the chain. This was obvious even today with the quarterly management calls. LL-beans and JSmall-fry are spewing $hit out their mouth that some pencil d!cked VP fed them. It is a f---ng embarrassment. I wonder if they are aware of how stupid they are? I guess ignorance is bliss and the money doesn't hurt. Too much perception is reality, if you keep telling the story then it must be true... Drink the koolaide

Stephen Farkouh doesn't care about you. Tony Thomas doesn't care about you. Windstream doesn't care about you. Ask yourself is it worth it going to work stressed all the time. These execs know the deal, they're all looking out for themselves. And even if they tell you something, are you going to believe them?
