Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Hours cut

Just looked at the most recent schedule. Starting in January my demand was cut to 157. To have only 2 people in the store all day 182 is required. So for 25 hours a week, the front is alone.

Today, they’ve cut demand from 157 to 155. I’m done. They just keep pushing and pushing but they’ve pushed too far. Texted my DL that I’m done he can find someone else.

What kind of sales volume is a store with so few hours???? Im a Shift Supervisor in a 7am-midnight store and we have well over 300 hours and manage quite fine.

Just hang the pertinent tags, throw the rest in the trash. Customers can use newspaper to find sale items.

Those large signs for reduction

Only save me about 30 min.

It's only 5 depts .. But they took 3 hours . And what would it matter

I still need me and a cashier here during that time on sat night cause Rx is closed.

The fact that CVS feels the need to cut by something as small as 2 hours says it all. They are scared as hell - cutting hours and money anywhere they can. Consequences be damned

Yeah maybe that “manage” philosophy will work in high volume stores. But in lower -mid volume stores, no way.

I’ve heard managers say that before, that technically their only supposed to “manage” the store. EXCEPT with cvs standards of payroll, if the store managers didn’t help and actually do work, nothing would get done, because there’s never enough people on shift!

FYI your job is to manage the store, not be at the store 45 hours.

You Can work a reasonable time and get. The job done, but just because you are there 45 hours doesn’t mean you are doing the job. So many have side jobs and are not working, yet b--ching like they are actually doing something.

We are coming for you 5 planograms...

If the powers to be had ANY sense we would go to 2 week ads. Look at the savings there, all those damn ad signs would provide a big cost savings. Basically we run the same stuff every 2 weeks anyway, just run it together.

Who owns the problem? You or CVS?

We are 5 planograms behind now...not working one minute more than 45. CVS is stealing the money from vendors who support these planograms and are not giving the money to stores to complete them.

Several critical customer and employee safety issues are now being denied by service channel due to cost control.

When are these cuts going to stop? The stores were already falling apart. I can only imagine what they look like now.

Incredibly stupid thing to do unless you had a backup plan. Just use the hours, let them do their documentation. Buy some time to get another job. I dont listen to one thing these DLs say.

What a sorry excuse for a company

Hours constantly cut and BCs are now being reassigned. CVS saved billions, gave huge raises, quickly followed by store level cuts. They are pulling money in hand over fist! Wall Street is eating the middle class alive.

Trump tax cuts at it's finest!

The the poster asking about high volume

These stores were always cut.

Stores were given “minimum hours” and what was left was for the higher volume.

This went on for a while, and finally it has gotten to the lower volumes that make no sales.

Except being alone is an incredible safety issue! Imagine getting robbed at gunpoint and the robber thinks your taking too long... Not to mention it’s hard to prevent shoplifting when your alone and can’t leave the register.

Today DL told us 10 RPh hours are being cut from our store due to Verification Sharing starting June 16.

High volume stores do get cut. Look at it based on the spmh to get a better idea from. Week to week basis. You will not notice it as much as a low volume as your sales can change by 10k or more week to week. For example I did 240k last week on 230 spmh while this week I'll do about 200k on 200spmh. Come July I'll avg 220 spmh each week.

The low volume store that get cut could be around 110 spmh and still not be that bad. While it's bad to be alone the volume doesn't dictate having more people.

Feel bad for the stores that are doing 45 to 50 k and still min hours

Quick question... I have noticed for some time now on this site all these hours cuts taking place. But they only seem to be happening at low volume stores. When might some of these cuts start to affect higher volume stores? I work in a higher volume store in the Northeast. My manager has only said that we haven’t been hit by any of these cuts but wouldn’t say if anything is coming. So is anything coming for high volume stores, or just low volume stores taking the heat?

They are doing somethings to reduce payroll. One is the reduction of sale signs by using more large signs. Another is they are putting self checkouts in about 2500 low volume stores to cut there. There are also some other small things like not doing planos but cutting in items. This is targeted at ultra low volume stores

"Stores have been participating in a promo signage reduction initiative which has reduced the amount of time it takes to hang the weekly ad. For these stores, weekly Front Store schedule demand hours have been updated starting with Week 23 to reflect the demand savings"

So basically they threw us a bone to save us some time on ad night then said wait you're not actually expecting to keep those hours?

Happening in California also, lost 5 hours. Company stating “ due to the signing initiative we realized we could save labor” pretty much what it said.

I thought we were as low as we could get 10 years with cvs i have never seen a demand as low as it is now.

I was cut an additional two hours also. I guess cvs needs more money again. I have never seen such a company

Cutting everything down to nothing is NOT how you run a company! But that's the "cvs way" of how to run things!

Is this the Memorial Day week schedule or the one after? If it’s Memorial Day do you have adjusted hours at all? That could be affecting it.
