Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Can we rely on severance?

Considering the situation at Windstream right now, can we even be certain we'll be getting severance if (or more likely - when) we're laid off?

I'm trying to decide if I want to stick it out till the end or just cut my losses and find a new job as soon as possible.

To be honest, I'm leaning towards the second option.

You can’t really on anything at Windstream. You can expect outages and repair not to have capability find your service. You can count on being lied too

Is Windstream really selling services. A better question is who’s buying.

It's a company that's literally in bankruptcy because it can't pay the bills while TT pays himself and other execs million dollar bonuses as part of the key employee retention plan. If you haven't been told you're a key employee, guess what, you're expendable. Even WARN acts and 60 day notices that normally lead to severance are dispensed with in bankruptcy. Do you need a hard kick in the rear to get the hint?

Do you have money sitting in the bank to cover you until you find a new job if you are laid off?

If yes, ride it out.

If no, then you should seriously consider finding something. Severance is no guarantee.
