Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford Smart Redesign

By now those that are agency employees should have given notification. Not all agency employees are affected. LL and GSR should be looking for jobs outside of Ford if you have not been contributing to the company and if you are considered as average or low performers. It's about time Ford takes the initiative to clean house and weed out the underperformers. Those that has high seniority and without work to do will leaving the company by May 24th. Good luck with your future career with other company or your retirement.

I tend to agree with the OP. I am an active GSR X employee and it is sad that some, not all, employees with pensions feel that Ford owes them a job. It is not just the 'old timers' with pensions either. If you are a "Blue Stripe employee" and aren't putting in a 'fair days pay for a fairs days work' than this is you.

I see each and every day said employees put in about 1-2 hours worth of work a day and get paid for 8 hours. What a sham! They feel they are entitled due to the fact that they beat the odds and escaped previous layoffs in the past that they will beat this one.

I keep my fingers crossed that THIS TIME around their number will be up and they get the reckoning that they deserve.

Sincerely,

A concerned, dedicated, fortunate Ford employee that truly cares about the company I work for.

Sometimes when I awake from my hour nap in my "office"...the restroom...the one with real walls and a door...I think about all the hard work you've done...keep drinking the kool-aid your job will probably be the first to go....

Usually after a meeting with my manager I just shut down. ..the same old draconian methods of threats as encouragement. ...around this time I wander off to my "office".. .the restroom....because it actually has walls and a door...and drift off to a happier place for 45 min or so...the desire to even try has left my soul decades ago...gotta run phone battery is dying. ..to many hours job searching ...

Problem is, some GSR’s want to work more, but can’t . In IT, between all the PDIO redesign stuff that started last year plus the Smart Refesign, it is in turmoil. I’ve been under - utilized for nearly a year, but could not transfer due to LL’s trying to protect headcount.

The real fun will begin for the survivors next week - I wish them all well. It is to the point i am starting to think would not be so bad to have to make a career change...

First of all that is that true that all agency people have been notified. I am tired of the lies on this site. Personally, I have looked at both my LL5 and LL4 and LL2 calendars and have not see anything which leads me to believe that a bunch of people in my organization are going to be fired. So whoever said all of the agency people that will be fired has been fired is not true. To the best of my knowledge, I have not heard of anyone being let go as of today.

Would disagree with -aya-

There are some people who have upward yearnings and have hit their level of competency and have no other Ford path available to them, and so slide down the path of deadwood.

Then there are others who live for technical challenges and who elevate everyone around them. These people accomplish more in a day than coworkers do in months. Their minds never stop inventing and solving technical problems.

The first group will never really be satisfied with their Ford job. The second group will find ways to be excel wherever they land.

Ford mgrs initially value the first group and promote them, but only a level or two.

Ford mgrs fear the second group.

The hilarity of it all is that the second group is the group that Ford needs to attract and retain. Yet Ford mgrs routinely chase them away. The second group can truly transform Ford. Ford mgrs are just re-chewing the same bubblegum, blowing different sized bubbles and calling it progress.

Our LL4 had the nerve to compare himself to Steve Jobs, saying we should trust him to reDesign the department because even Steve Jobs had doubters when he remade Apple. The guy is delusional if he thinks he is anywhere near Steve Jobs caliber.

No one strives to be deadwood. It just happens over time. After 20 years of hard work, applying for and interviewing for next level Jobs Online, eventually you realize you don’t have the “it” factor or part of the “in” crowd. Those that are “in” know they are. Not everyone is “capstone” material. Once you “see” your nonexistent future career and assess your life priorities, the deadwood process starts.

Been there, done that, saw this coming and took the PRP last fall and haven’t looked back. I gave up Ford so I could devote 100% my time to free time. Every night is Friday and every day is Saturday.

I still feel bad about what’s happening but in a relieved detached sort of way.

Agency have nothing to do with SRD. It’s a Blue Badge initiative. Agency are always on the chopping block so those who perform stay.

@rfx Unfortunately the 1-2 hour crowd will most likely persist and multiply. Former IBMer now Fords so I have a wide LinkedIn network with many Fords employees at all levels. What I have observed in past six months is Fords employees writing cloying reviews for higher ups and religiously liking and commenting on higher ups posts. Those most prevalent in these activities are in the 1-2 hour crowd. So you see them as not doing work, but they are working the system.

The attitude of the OP (who is clearly a troll and probably doesn't work for Ford) is what executive management wants us to think. They want us to devalue ourselves, point at our coworkers and throw them under the bus, and work longer hours for less pay out of fear of the axe.

I refuse to do any of this. I may not have job security, but I can still keep my humanity intact. Ford cannot redesign that.

And the vast majority of gsr are ranked achiever. They have to distribute raises and bonuses on a curve. Just saying OP...

Yeah and I'm sure the CEO works every minute of the work week for millions and millions and millions of dollars he is paid.

What a troll. There would be zero employees left at Ford if all the average performers left. Everyone’s productivity has tanked with all the smart redesign activities (continual threat / promise of activities).

OP’s grammar shows he/she has limited English language skills.

@ Ford guy, Its pretty easy to sit on a perch and throw rocks at other people, isnt it? It's Sunday, maybe you can go kick some old ladies coming out of church. That should make you feel better.

Are you an executive involved in smart redesign making these sweeping statements. Some of the statements what you made may not be applicable or may not be the objective of the smart redesign.
