Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Rebadged Hope

Our hopes were high good news was to come on Friday. The news is we have 6 months from April 1st. They will give a 60 day notice of being let go. Severance of one week for every year up to 8 weeks. No more rebadging until 2020. Good news for thise not rebadged. Here I was thinking we had 12 to 18 months and now it is 6 months. Somewhere something was mentioned about a retention bonus. So not really good news.

If you have a skill that Xerox/HCL wish to keep, when you sign your papers the retention bonus will be detailed there (if you're getting one). It normally involves a commitment to stay for a certain length of time.

Re: replacing second level and customer support:

A good thing these folk have going for them is the ability to be understood. So far sitting on these conference calls with folks that are supposed to be in charge of interfacing with the rebadged has been horrible for the most part.

We have had 6 people leave in the past 3 weeks, you can just feel the "i just don't care anymore attitude" in the air, i will go until i just can't bear it any longer, i will use all my vacation days and job hunt, part of me kind of just wants to just "not show up" one day and just send an email that i am not coming back, i will most likely not give a notice because did Xerox give us one before they badged us over? That would be a big fat no!!!!

I do know at least one person at our core who was rebadged was offered a bonus.

I can tell you morale is in the dumpster at our core. It's a sad waiting game. We've already had two resign since the HCL-rebadge. I'm guessing many will follow. Good for them.

It it is not in writing then it is as good as an IOU written on a napkin. Why start believing any of the things they say now when everything else has been a falsehood in the past? They are desperate to keep people from leaving as they did not have the brains to offer retention bonuses to key personnel. They are so dim it is alarming!!!

Original post I'm sure is regarding XBS/GIS employee as I have heard the same.

We've heard the same at my core but something doesn't seem right. In HCL's itime, it has that our "project" with Xerox is only until May 31st. It's baffling to get two very different date. I wish the 6 months promise was in writing.

We all knew many (all) of us would be let go by HCL.

This provides some certainty (min of 6 months of pay, benefits, 60 day notice and severance) which is much better than I originally thought.

Assuming the information above is true, I would rather work for HCL then to get IRIF’d through Xerox.

This should provide some runway to find another position.

I would also know about this retention bonus

I'm guessing OP is a GIS employee, because I don't think there's any way HCL could train someone to replace field engineering or 2nd level in 6 months. There's too much ingrained experience that you can't pass on with a cheat sheet.

Where do you work, XBS/GIS? How do we know who this applies to?

Remember if HCL does not think they'll be able to do any of the jobs, supposedly you will turn to a Xeox employee.

if they can get this done in 6 months it will be a miracle, they can't even get our time accrued moved over yet, i just see a major sh-- show and i just don't want to be the one to fix all the issues this move creates because Xerox is trying to save $, there are already issues because of the people who have left already, the Xerox name is losing all creditability, the Xerox ship is sinking and there is no life preserver, i just know HCL is going to realize they made a huge mistake doing this deal because it's not going to be as simple as i'm sure what they were told
