Great point. They said it was a difficult decision. That definitely translates into we are in trouble, then.

Speculation at its worst.

The finance department is constantly looking at cutting costs. The decisions are made in the 4th quarter. The call center and store closings decisions were made then.

If anything changes or is shut down it is not related to anything current.

But .....believe what you want.

Except opening and closing stores isn’t like flipping a light switch. ALOT of work goes into a store opening, and to close one down LESS than 5 years after opening it, speaks to me more about the current climate, than just a routine “no lease renewal” store closing. I would think that a landlord would want at least a 5 year commitment from any prospective store tenant. Leasing a store front is nothing like leasing an apartment. Plus, look at the statement from corporate about this... they said that they made the “difficult decision” to close these two stores. Corporate also said the same thing when they recently decided to close the Aetna home delivery service in Kansas City, and lay everyone off. They called it a “difficult decision”, and we know that closing was specifically related to cost cutting due to merger.

The stores in the rounds of closings in April were losing money and leases were up. This , once again happens every year. There were a handful in each area of the company.

No more slated to close this year.

Or believe what you want to. It won’t change anything either way.

This is probably cost cutting measures due to merger.

So I looked this up and there may be more to this than meets the eye. The 2 stores closed suddenly and without warning. And one of the stores just opened in September 2015! So before we go calling anyone a (bad word) look it up and see that YES this IS concerning!

San Francisco is a big market. Closing big market stores is at the very least a tiny bit concerning. So no the sky isn’t falling, but this isn’t nothing either.

Yeah, just wait until we are the all in one stop place, where people are forced to come to cvs, then they will shut stores and let the remaining stores s---up the displaced customers. Of course on no additional labor. Larry will look like a King.
