Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

What's going on currently?

Do we know anything new on more Anthem layoffs? It's past April 7, and that was supposed to be day D, but I didn't notice that anything major happened.

Does that mean we are safe for now or is the worst yet to come?

I can't emphasize enough how much I hate this uncertainty.

To answer, major RIF is in commercial IT area.So far business functions are not impacted. But down the line (2/3 years) either this will automate or replaced by Legato.I don't know whether you are aware or not,Accenture doing business functionalities for the past few years. So currently not only associates, vendors also impacted .In fact vendors are more impacted. However i believe this trend is going to continue as while Gail was in UHG she did the same thing. Now UHG india center has 10K+ employees .So either you plan for retirement or pack your bags and join some better company before they fire you.Best of luck all of you.

Today is 4/23/2019 - This message is to the person who posted the updates on Accenture, Deloitte and Legato.

Regarding:

Anthem Already hired around 2000 people for Legato Health Technologies (Captive for Anthem IT) and want to transfer the work to Legato. Most of these hires were working for anthem for years (as contractor at different vendor like Cognizant/Deloitte/UST global) at offshore location. So minimum training required for them.

Does this observation have anything to do with the NCC / Pega or Compass?

OMG!!! There's always a reorg - there's always right sizing - there's always layoffs - what's the matter little snowflakes?!?! Can't take the uncertainty!??! You didn't like it in the 50s and 60s - cause the big bad white man was running things - well kiddies - LOL - THIS IS ANTHEM!!! -

You didn't actually think they are going to create a company in India and let you continue taking the pay bonuses of executives for another minute DID YOU!?!?!?

It's the same as most large corporations - they treat people like disposable garbage - they get infiltrated ad loose YOUR data - NOT THEIRS!! - and nothing happens - SO ...

Treat the company the way you are being treated - :-) - why do you think most new age kiddies treat all these jobs like McJobs?!?! CAUSE THEY ARE !!!! There's no watch at the end of the tunnel -

Here's how it works - people are told that IF YOU DON'T MOVE TO ... wherever... you will be let go - THEY SELL EVERYTHING AND MOVE - then a year later they get let go - and you're not in the streets with pitchforks?!?!?! Who's the id--t - STOP COMPLAINING LIKE SOMEONE OWES YOU SOMETHING !!!

Accenture partnership is starting and Deloitte is being challenged on their financials. Resource managers have been asked to verify true labor costs vs what Deloitte has submitted to ELT. Accenture will be nothing more than another group promising the moon and delivering nothing but layoffs. Reduce reduce and push to India. Business teams are being kept in the dark that ultimately all work will be supported overseas. PHI and GBD restrictions be damned.

Tim Skeen did send out a note to key business partners about Shally's departure but there was no company or division-wide e-mail. It sounds as though she chose to leave to accept another position. It states: It is with mixed emotions that I share the news that Shally has made the difficult decision to leave Anthem to pursue an exciting new opportunity as SVP, Chief Information and Digital Officer at..."

It names the company (don't like putting that kind of specific info in a public forum) but it is another health system in Atlanta.

I find it interesting that no email blasts are going out announcing the IT reorganization with Shalley leaving. I’ve heard that is per Gail’s directive. So much for transparency.

Perhaps it’s a way to keep it out if the news that Anthem is eliminating jobs and moving business operations outside the country.

Legato will take over business functions too. There are more english speakers there than anyplace else. Some business functions wil be replaced by AI and automation.

As far as I know, Anthem is building Legato in India and will be manned by Anthem associates and perhaps some contractors as well for IT work. Anthem is planning to move all IT work to India to save money and who knows, perhaps in the future they may move some of the Business functions to India as well. So again, an American Company is taking away work from Americans and moving them outside the country.

What exactly is the scope of work that Legato does? Is it just IT and development, or do they cover other areas too? I guess I am asking if we will all be replaced with contracted workers from Legato?

Didn't see any email communication re: an all associate meeting for tomorrow .. but did see an email about another additional 20% reduction in funding for Lights-On on top of the initial 30% which now brings the reduction for LO Budget to 50%. I suppose need to make some room for all the Legado people they are bringing in.

So here is the reason for mass layoff...

1)Anthem Already hired around 2000 people for Legato Health Technologies (Captive for Anthem IT) and want to transfer the work to Legato. Most of these hires were working for anthem for years (as contractor at different vendor like Cognizant/Deloitte/UST global) at offshore location. So minimum training required for them.

2)Anthem already burned $1 billion for modernization of IT systems with no results by changing vendor. The main vendor was Deloitte which is too costly (compared to other vendors)and never had any significant experience in IT services.TOM Miller and Braian Beardon made money out of this deal .

3)They want all people to move to strategic location for IT team which is Atlanta/Virgina/Mason.Whoever refused to move that would be fired.Either accept transfer or leave the company(All CA employees bye bye..)

4)Age also a factor to some extent. These people are working in old technologies and nearing to retirement age and hesitated to learn new digital technologies. So keeping them no option. Also average Insurance cost is high when employee average age is high.

5)Now as Legato is taking over all the people in USA has to directly interact and work with employees at offshore. The employees who never worked with offshore directly bye bye..They will hire the contractors who were already working.worked for anthem so can easily coordinate with offshore people.
