Job search

Are people who have been laid off in the past month or so already looking for new jobs? If yes, how is the search doing?

The internal postings initiative is a scam and offers false hopes for individuals. Most positions are already filled by preferred candidates and all those applied will never hear back from HR and leave by the final departure date. It will be very tough for individuals in their late 40s or early 50s since age discrimination exists every where - even though you are well qualified. Some folks don't even have a resume ready and haven't had to apply for a job for years because they were relying on SAP to take care of them until they retire - the best company to work for in many countries!! (check out the awards). Good luck to you all!!

If you were impacted you should be looking for a new position immediately. It takes a long time to go through the interview and selection process in today's competitive job market. I agree with the other post and suggest you take the package and run as far away from SAP. This is a new pattern and Bill won't be satisfied until the entire generation that built SAP is gone. Expect another Cloud acquisition in the next 18 months and anyone over 50 will be shown the door. Next time the Board won't approve the $$$ for these lucrative payouts.

Why stay? Take the fat package, land in better place and real job that you actually know how your time is spent.

Anyone whose positions are eliminated should always start looking immediately. My teammate just landed another position within SAP America, so we were all really happy he had started his search immediately.

My short position has been doing so well I haven’t thought about it.
