Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Yes or No to "People Lead "

Just wondering if anyone has made their decision about applying for this position? What were your thoughts? Deciding factors?

I can’t decide if I should step down to a part time level a/b role with less responsibility so that I can take advantage of the company’s dollar a day corporate tuition assistance program to finish my degree OR take my severance and run because I just don’t wanna do it anymore. I’ve had several promising job leads with other companies in HR but I’m not ready to walk away from WM just yet. Also- the people lead page on WIRE lays out the timeline for filling the people lead role by week. Does anyone else find this a bit odd? Especially considering the way previous job eliminations or new position openings have been done in the past? First week you have to opt in. Second week you apply. Then it’s VR simulation training. Then IF you’re selected to go further, you interview. The next week, you do an official job offer. Why the “opt in” step? Idk. I don’t even have time to take my leadership assessment or my upskill training. Something is not right here. What happens if we don’t opt in? We just run personnel till our replacement shows up, all the while keeping a smile on our face and selling our company as a wonderful employer of choice? Please. Look at the PL Job description “bachelor degree preferred”.

The only reason I even want to compete for a spot is for my co-workers. My associates trust and depend on me and I am honored to serve them.

ALSO— new Supervisor structure coming down at the same time? New job codes in schedule right with no communication or notification?

The focus has been to hire, train and retain good talent. Well, you bout to watch a lot of great talent walk right out the door. Walmart tried to be like target. Didn’t work. Now trying to be like amazon. Watch our stock prices fall to rock bottom next year.

They are also opening the position to externals and advertising through indeed. Doesn't feel as if knowledge of position is a want.

Does anyone other than PC/TC not realize that this job is simply going to be a Support Team associate that has access to personnel options? They will be spending more time on the floor but do you think they will actually get to be helping the associates with their problems? I don't think so. In reality they will be running around doing the task that the Cos and Asst. want them to do, taking calls that they don't want to deal with, stocking shelves, scanning outs, etc. They should have just said it was a Support Team associate and left the people part out of the title.

I agree that these positions will probably be taken by Asst. Mgr. For some reason they keep coming into the office asking questions about how to do things. Maybe they need to learn everything on their own just like we all have had to do over the years. No one offered to help us.

Ummm F#-$& no! I don’t need the extra aggravation and those hours. There are lots of HR Coordinator positions that are Monday-Friday in other industries. I’m sprinting out with my severance package. I really want to be with my family on Thanksgiving anyway.

Been hearing of ASM restructure every since COs were let go. In my opinion ASMs will get these positions. I expect it so I will not be applying. Why waste my time

For a whopping .24 cent raise ....then to be capped out at $25... it's not worth the little increase I would receive.

Pay cap is 25.00 a hour the most u get paid. Starting party 18.00. Split days off most likely. I kabir I would not want to work the 5am until 2 PM right after doing the 2pm to 11 PM that's for sure. I really think alot will be up to the store manager

Our store (NHM) already been doing this since September. Can't say that after 6-7 months, that having the same responsibilities and stress of an assistant manager is worth $15k less/year!

SM's don't know anything yet. Also, they can not 'promise' anything. If the company says do CDE, and the SM is trying to go old school and do ABC, it won't last. They have worked very hard to break the SM's from running their own show. It just doesn't work like that anymore.

I was just visiting with one of my old friends still with the company the other day. She was telling me of some type of position, might have been this one, that management was pushing her towards. It was going to be better pay, similar hours, same days off she'd been having; everything about it sounded choice. But she was highly reluctant----and tho a lay person would have been baffled by that, I understand why. With this outfit, any moves you make away from something you've been grandfathered into, you're taking a huge risk of getting screwed. Simply changing departments can knock you down to part time----seen that happen to a number of people, My friend was telling me how she's going to the SM and having him 'assure her' there would be no negative changes from this, should she take it.

AS IF HE'D TELL HER THE TRUTH.

Still need to know more. Which store/stores? Split days off? Pay cap for those already making $25 or close to it?
