Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

It's only faster downhill from here...

So sad it has come to this. The design center is no longer what it was. There is no more life in the halls. How can a place so cold even try to design something a kid would touch. The company has lost it's perspective on what play is. Those left to try to design only know stress, fear, disappointment, and definitely NOT FUN. It's not about losing Friday- It's about what we've lost and can never find again. There's no hope in rebuilding or digging ourselves out of this deep trench of a grave. Those who maintain "happy" and "optimistic" are usually the overpaid directs who have traded their soul and humanity for a paycheck. That does not take away from the fact that the company no longer has Toy Makers, in fact the company doens't even have qualified designers. All the products are cost reduced rehashed and reused tools with licenses or upcoming horrible movies attached to them. Poor choices.

Seems like our view of chidhood equates to:

No innovation. No creativity. No fun. No Play. NO FUTURE.

Also a dark day when Shelty left the HTC. Another world-class designer whose enthusiasm and talent were legendary. He finally gave up on Mattel's nonsense and walked away. For me, that signaled that all was lost.

I don’t understand why people don’t go after CEOs who made 34 million to do nothing and the current executive leadership rather than at things like community college degrees. Low hanging fruit, classist and degrading the wrong people. I’m missing the facts about Ivy League minds doing more to save a company? I hate this kind of sentiment that says more about the poster and their insecurities than anyone else. It’s how we got ourselves an id--t in the White House...

If you have to call yourself a genius, I’m guessing you actually are not.

Lost part of its magic when Eric Often Dorf left the HTC. A brilliant, creative mind and an enthusiastic, dedicated “toy guy”. Really miss him and his creative energy here. Loved that guy.❤️

Not sure you're in a good place to be calling someone a loser...

And I'm sure you've already had your fair share of Karmic repercussions for selling out. So go on an put a smiley face. You've already paid your price for corporate compliance.

I'm guessing this post was created by another resentful laid off NYC employee. Move on loser!

Sounds like there are more disgruntled current employees than disgruntled ex employees.

At Fisher-Price people are leaving the company faster than we can hire them.

You're right. All of the free will thinking creatives have left long gone. The place is littered with groomed servants from community colleges who were hired as yes men to managers who have failed at design and require grunts to do their dirty work. They don't keep who is valuable to the company, just those who can sustain it long enough for the hires ups to jump ship before it sinks.
