Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Will there be more layoffs at Optum?

We know there were small layoffs a few weeks ago and then it stopped. I somehow doubt that was it, but spending weeks anticipating more has been excruciating.

Am I wrong? Could it be that those layoffs were really it for this round and we are don for at least some time?

There will be much finger pointing and blame shifting when there is a data breach of Americans' health information and other confidential info such as dates of birth, social sec numbers, addresses because of sending IT offshore. Those people have access to that data!

All departments, all managers provide FTE rankings but this is just one criteria used. Others are site closings, decomissioned systems, offshoring dev and SA work, highest paid, etc.

Reductions every quarter planned through 2020. Offshoring and outsourcing are a key focus. Many of the people now running things within IT have no real IT experience and are approaching it like a retail business, not a highly regulated healthcare company. Only a matter of time before there's a PR scandal for moving so much PHI and PPI into the hands of staff in India and Philippines.

I think they're spreading out the layoffs to avoid too much bad publicity and avoid too many people jumping ship. Once people think they're safe again and the dust has settled, there will be another round of layoffs.

In February there were managers making lists of employees and ranking them, so I doubt the layoffs are done.

There have been continuous layoffs since 2017, why would they stop now. There is a 15% operational cost cutting goal they need to meet across UHG.
