We will be gracious despite this.

There is nobody left at Follett that knows how to be gracious.

Blaming everyone but themselves for their stellar failures...

YOU OWN IT!

If the Family had any sense they would ask for an accounting for these poor decisions and hold the responsible people accountable.

Do you not think Follett offered a signing bonus in thier bid!

Really don't think Barnes and Noble wants our fixtures. They are 10 years old and brought to our store when another Follett store remodeled.

Now how did you hear about the bonus, no one noticed ivy tech buying store stuff, really?

No one has mentioned the one million signing bonus that B &N gave Ivy Tech, or the fact that over the last year Ivy Tech bought all the fixtures in the bookstores from Follett. Sort of makes you wonder about how long the switch really has been in the works. We will be gracious despite this

Follett lost Lone Star College Bookstores in Houston, Texas area last year. Stores also transitioned to Barnes and Noble, Does anyone know what happened with those associates?

Follett lost the contract because they are a c-ap company. They treated workers at Ivy like peons, so consider selves lucky.

At this point its common knowledge

As with most take overs, the incoming company will offer jobs to current staff to get through the transition. Then after about a year, anyone still around will become suddenly stupid and be fired.

Does anyone think bn will actually keep any Follett workers? Heard they bring in new staff.

I understand that the regional is as much surprised by all this as we are. I'm sure that wasnt an easy call to make notifying staff of the news. We need to support each other emotionally, continue to be adults through all this. Either follow through and see where the transition leads or find new employment. We have choices, always have!

I don't think our RM has been given much information yet. This has been tight lipped. Many Ivy Tech employees were surprised to find out that the contract was put out for bid. I guess we'll learn our fates soon.

Absolutely correct, nothing has been said. As usual Follett doesn't care about employee. Many good hard working folks with unsure futures.

Nothing has been said at all basically. And it's 21 locations (5 were closed over a year ago).

Nothing has been said about possible job transfer to other locations. Barnes and Noble job offers might be a option. It would be great to have options

Target minimum wage is $13 per hour. Follett is state mandated minimum wage of $7.25 per hour. What are you waiting for?

Congratulations to the Ivy Tech folks. I hope you make the most of it.

Now for the other future follett victims, you may not be so lucky as to have another company take over your operation. What do you do? Why are still at follett? You're not exceptional, you're next.
